Tested with Windows Consumer Preview x86 english version, never said it works with x64 or other versions
lol yes after you edited your post, yesterday when you posted the mod you never had down only tested with x86, anyways I got it to work
don't be stupid ... filename are watermark_patch_win8-cp_x86_en-US.rar so it's clear it's for 32-bit and not for both or only x64.
Patching basebrd.dll.mui removes the "Windows 8 Consumer Preview" string from winver.exe too. But that's no big deal i guess.
hey, thanks. Usually we talk more just for testing and giving feedbacks to who create the patch/app. If it works, anoyone is free to choose to patch the system(at your own risk) Or maybe Use the simply solution to overwrite the cached image.
You can modify the file shell.dll.mui by yourself, here following the instruction below: 1- Google, download and install the Resource Hacker (reshack_setup.exe) 2- Take ownership and control (Windows\System32\en-US\shell32.dll.mui) 3- Open in Resource Hacker Choose String table Resource 2070/1033 Delete lines 33108, 33109, 33118 Compile Scrit Save Reboot Run > mcbuilder Reboot Done!

@steph_t: At which file does it show up? (termsrv.dll, shell32.dll.mui or basebrd.dll.mui?) Do you use the loader of woot332? Have you previously modified the mui files on your own?
I really wasn't sure why anyone would want to, or need to, remove the Watermark. I've come to understand it's something we like to do just because we can. Thanks! Worked for me - still activated. It took me two times because I failed to follow the instructions more carefully.
