Watermark removal for Windows 8.1 Pro X64 FRENCH

Here's both files, modded for the FRENCH version of Windows 8.1 Professionnal X64 preview.
Replace both basebrd.dll.mui and shell32.dll.mui located there:
    C:\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\fr-FR\basebrd.dll.mui
    C:\Windows\System32\fr-FR\shell32.dll.mui
with the ones from the rar.

You need a little utility: resource hacker. Install it.
Then, copy those files in another folder in order to edit them:
    C:\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\pt-BR\basebrd.dll.mui
    C:\Windows\System32\pt-BR\shell32.dll.mui

Launch Resource hacker and then edit the two files that way:
First, load basebrd.dll.mui on the left part of the app, expand string table, then 1, click on 1036. Then on the right part delete lines 12 and 13 that must look like this:
    12, "Windows 8.1 Professionnel Preview"
    13, "Windows 8.1 Professionnel Preview"
Then click on compile then file, save. You're done with this one.

Then click on File, load your shell32.dll.mui, expand the following string on the left side of the app: String Table/2070, click on 1036.
On the right side of the app, delete lines 33108 and 33109 that looks like this:
    33108, "%ws Build %ws"
33109, "Version d’évaluation." (will be in portuguese on your file obviously)
Then click on compile, then file, save.

Then, you will have to replace the original files in the original folders with the ones you've just modded. You'll have to take ownership of the two original files like the owner of this thread did in his video tutorial. You'll have to rename the original shell32.dll.mui to shell32.dll.mui.old to replace it or it won't work. Then run cmd or windows powershell, type mcbuilder, wait a few seconds. Then reboot and it should work.

You try removing one line. and mcbuilder and reboot and Observe effects.
    and
try removing other line. and mcbuilder and reboot and Observe effects.
    and
    other line and Observe effects.

Realised that phenomenon with WCP Watermark Editor likewise :D. Seems the strings affects more than watermark only.
After using the mentioned Watermark Editor Metro Apps will stop working...!!!!! So check this :hmm:.

This is wrong way of doing it . [ you people are removing the complete branding ]

may be you can tru the registry method

    1. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

    2. In right pane change value of PaintDesktopVersion" DWORD to 0

    3. Now log off or restart your system

Watermark is forced in Evaluations/Previews/unactivated Windows, that registry setting is ignored.

I have an ISO from MDL...but is the same SHA with MS provided,ok...all done with this. Now,I reinstalled Windows 8.1(clean install) and my retail key wasn't accepted during install so I used that publicly available.ok.When instalation finished I changed the key using command prompt and I have now Windows activated with my legit retail key...but,bad news: The watermark is here,untouched..:D. BTW,is here a good news: I can put here my free WMC key and all works to activate W8.1WMC .

I used the free-4-all WMC key and that did work too.
