amm.. I think watermark will with you together. Build9431 will show watermark whether you use any KEY. Because build 9431 is Evaluations(Not RTM). it dont option to pay/buy. Just modify "mui" only way to remove watermark.
jepp please tell me that too then ? I don't think that I am the only lucky guy that has no watermark out off the box
to make it easey run this reg file to add take ownership to windows 8 right click....tested. I still needed to add old at the end of the shell32.dll.mui before I replaced it with the new one. thank you dokmai
Every GVLK Key for Windows 8.1 activates with KMS standalone, every Retail Key for Windows 8.1 auto activates by M$. only key that did not Activate was the WMC key which allowed install but not Activation... (might be only my Beta WMC key.) now that store is open with Beta and they want you to buy WMC...
Besides saying it can be done, I don' t get what the big deal is in removing the watermark. The preview will expire on 1/15/2014.
Not if you modify the OS correctly man. I've been looking for this now I can pre-modify the image to include this In other words on install there is no watermark as well thanks man
Without sharing the 'how to' this is useless info. Always thought this forum is meant for sharing not for show off, although both options sound similiar.
Well the how to is simple extract a windows image aka WIM. Modify the files inside of it then recompress the WIM and do a standard install. Already posted one modified image / iso with a no timebomb fix anyway. Good to see ya again Snuffy
Now as I see it, one removed the watermark. easy to do. you change the KEY from Retail, (given by M$ to install and Activate.) to GVLK then Activate with KMS (Local KMS). then all you have to do is remove he Time bomb. which some say if you use KMS Activatation the Full OS continues to work even after the expire date... Theory of course untested.
That being said I have not honestly tried to do the KMS activation for the Full OS thingee. Patching the Windows Image before the install of the OS is much easier to do in order to run it past the expiration date (Already tested and not theory). The first time it was done was on the Windows 8 Release Preview which I actually liked more because it still had AERO. I'm more interested in seeing if the RTM can be modified to upgrade from 9431 to whatever build the rtm is. That would make this worth doing but if not its just fun and games on my part. You may want to check your email I sent ya @ snuffy.
I used the files in first post and removed the watermark. There is ? in system properties for Windows Edition. The store is working and so are my Metro Apps. Hopefully RTM will be released before my OCD kicks in.
