On post #6: Current Channel (Retail/RTM, C2R) ---------------------------------: 16.0.7668.2074 Volume License (Company VLSC, MSI) --------------------------------: 16.0.4456.1003 Are they 2 different kind of software or only the "numbers" of version is different?? I mean, they got the same hotfixes/updates ?? I got the VL, first release, 16.0.4266.1003. Is there an update pack (like Simplix Pack for W7), to slipstream to my VL iso?? (because I don't think there is an official updated ISO of VL. am I wrong?) And, if update pack exist, it will be update it to 16.0.4456.1003 or 16.0.7668.2074?? Thank you all in advance!
Hi there, I am using VL version of Office 2016 and found out that it is missing grammar and more options (previous behavior). I am planning to switch to other version but with all the versions available, I am getting confused. The best would be getting the old grammar behavior back and even better to keep on getting new feature updates. Option 1 Install Retail/RTM > Convert to VL > KMS Option 2 Install 365 > Convert to VL > KMS Will this work? Because the 365 suppose to be subscription based right? And is the grammar and more option exclusive to 365? Just like the PowerPoint morph? For both options, is it still safe to use the Office update? Do I need to keep on convert to VL everytime I use it? Thanks
Hi Guys, Been using the O2016RTool and its been mostly smooth sailing so far. Was wondering how to get some of the Office 365 only features such as Editor and Researcher (Word) and Designer and Morph (PowerPoint) in the Office Pro Plus installed via C2R using the O2016RTool. The features are surely there but are greyed out. I could get Researcher to work though. No luck with rest. Any ideas would be much appreciated and thanks for all the great work.
Thank you ratzlefatz. I think because I was directly doing in place upgrades over a Pro Plus install, the new features weren't activated. I uninstalled and reinstalled and activated Office now with the 365 Pro Plus option in O2016RTool. The Fixit tool gave up on me though. Had to do a normal uninstall via Control Panel and then run Fixit to remove further traces. Now the features work fine even when logged in using a MSA without an Office 365 subscription. PS. The editor I was referring to was the new Editor feature in Word (not VB editor) that suggests appropriate grammar and word usage as you type your document enabling you to learn better language usage apart from the routine spell check.
Is there the equivalent of something like AutoKMS Custom (from MS Toolkit) that could be scheduled to keep activation current? I thought it would work, but it seems to have no effect for whatever reason. (Update: The reason for that, as I noticed in Reliability Monitor, is that autokms.exe was silently crashing. I eventually found that if you edit the task and change the user from SYSTEM to yourself, it works.) If activation really went for a full 180 days I wouldn't much care, I'd do it manually, but I notice that somehow mine is down to 17 days, when it was 180 about a month ago. It must have jumped to 30 and been counting down since.
I had similar issue 4 days ago, my Office 2016 requested reactivation when it is not due until few months later. This has never happened before, I think there were some updates that prompted this!!
My Office version is 16.0.4266.1001. I have not installed or attempted to install any other version on this computer. If I click "About" in any Office application, I get the version #16.0.4698.1000!! I assume that is after all updates.
Yes, that may well be it. I'll look after the next build update. Maybe it'll bounce back up to 30. It's also possible that a new *Windows* Insider build affected it. I'll watch then, too. One idea I had (not sure if it's feasible): what if O2016RTool.cmd somehow supported a switch for this purpose? So, for example, if it saw /K it would just silently run (no menu), activate using the internal KMS, and exit.
Strange fact: I have verified updates on Office and downloaded v. 1701 (1766.2060) as showed after verifing O2016RTool updates. The Office gave a new update... Strange. EDIT: this was a temporary bug, but is resolved....
Yes, after today's Windows Insider build it was at 30 days. A scheduled task should be good to workaround that problem. Do you happen to know at what point activation warnings start? I know it's not at 30, and I've gone down to 17 or so, still with no warning. Maybe it can go all the way down to 0, in which case no scheduled task would be needed, since perhaps only once a year will a whole month go by without a new Windows Insider build. An unrelated question: The "What's New" icon on the Account page in Word, Excel etc is greyed out. Is that normal for a VL-style Office?
