Didnt we use that method back in vista days? with vista beta tokens.dat or sth like that. and doesn't that totally f**k up your windows because it believes it is another version of windows? so updates won't work for example?
Dit u follow this order ?? 2. Stop the spp service (i.e. Press the Windows + R keys and type services.msc and then find Software Protection and click the stop button or alternative way) 3. Replace win8.1's system32/spp/store/2.0/tokens.dat with win8's tokens.dat 4. Rename win8's original data.dat as cache.dat and then Replace win8.1's system32/spp/store/2.0/cache.dat 5. Do not touch win8.1's data.dat in store\2.0 folder 6. Start the spp service 7. Insert in win8.1 the same key used to activate win8.1 preview by using elevated command prompt with slmgr -ipk xxx command.
If some idiot makes a hacktivator using preview files and posts it on TPB, I'm gonna hunt you jerks down.
I have a question regarding this. I first activated my win8 pro with kms and then fully with free wmc keys. Took backup and then reinstalled later. Restored it and got activated again so can I use my wmc key to test this procedure?
Won't work in Windows 8.1. You need an activation backup from a legitimate Windows 8 Pro which was activated with a retail key before upgrading to WMC.
Just for clarity sake, everyone who has had success, were you logged in as a normal (elevated) user? Or directly using the administrator account.
Also, sppsvc is restarting itself as soon as any change is made to 2.0\tokens.dat and 2.0\cache\cache.dat. The files are being restored back to stock before I can even -ipk key. Wrote a simple .bat to automate process, not working here either.
There is a data.dat available on this forum that's from a system which is activated as pro from a retail key, will that work? edit: Leave it. Managed to activate my win 8.1 pro. Thanks anyways.
