I'm having a weird issue, which I mentioned in the virtualization forum here with the Phoenix BIOS in VMware ESXi 4.1 381591. When I extract the unmod'd BIOS and load it in the v1.85 mod tool it tells me: Complete SLIC 2.1 (Dell QA09 1.09BNVDA) in ACPI16.ROM (x1) pubkey and marker (2.1) (DELL QA09) in ACPI15.ROM (x1). So I think great..for some reason VMware put in a SLIC 2.1 table. I boot into a VM on the new host and run Daz's tool, RW Everything, and the SLIC toolkit and none of them can find a SLIC table. If I go ahead and use the v1.85 tool to mod the BIOS I then get: Complete SLIC 2.1 (Dell QA09 1.09BNVDA) in ACPI17.ROM (x1) pubkey and marker (2.1) (DELL QA09) in ACPI15.ROM (x1). pubkey and marker (2.1) (DELL QA09) in ACPI16.ROM (x1). Again, the same tool set inside a VM does NOT find a SLIC table. This is very different behavior than the ESXi 4.1 U1 release in which everything worked perfectly. Thoughts?
Question regarding instructions in first post: I have "EFI / Insyse BIOS" (from HP Mini 5103) and when I open it with Phoenix Tool 1.85, I select bios, manufacturer, slic and slp file, but when I click on GO it show me that I need open also RW report. So is RW report needed or not? If yes then please correct first post in this thread, as other newcoming users can be confused as I'm.
Hi all I know it is probably not the correct place to post my question but it seems that you people are certainly the right people to ask this question so here we go.. I'm currently stuck on a BIOS issue and I'm seeking for any help I ken get We are using the "General Software" BIOS. They were purchased by Phoenix. In our hardware we used the Intel Atom Z510/Z539 chipset that has support for the Intel® US15W integrated GMA 500 Graphic Our main problem is that the system does not recognize the GMA 500 (BIOS does not configure this) and thus we are using a generic VGA driver (Windows XP) that has low performance and does not allow us to change resolutions. There was a try to solve this, but the result was that the LCD backlight was constantly working and the entire screen was very white. I would very much appreciate any help/direction/recommendation Thanks,
Hi, ASUS traditionally used to use AMI BIOS now so boards are EFI and much bigger files. In particular P8H61 series. I downloaded the Phoenix tool 1.90 and it sees Insyde and finds the OEM string ASUS. I tried to MOD it but it wants RW report yes or yes, Does anyone knows if this is normal behaviour? RW report must be run on the same machine with the un moded bios to take the image of that machine at that moment in time and then saved. This is then (the saved image capture of the ACPI tables data) going to be applied to the intended to be moded? Is that how the process work????????? Thanks, danke, merci, grazie, gracias, brigado

Yes An RW is required for all EFI methods, except the experimental NVRAM method I don't have much time to throw at the tool currently, so am really only keeping an eye on the tool thread itself. Hope you are well, Andy
Hey Andy champion !!! thanks. Yeah, had a very bad time job wise down under but been rescued now and slowly coming back to life. Wish you the best on your end too. Cheers
the guide to Modify Phoenix/Dell/Insyde/EFI Bios files is some what out of date is there anybody capable, interested and got the time to update it? - just a thought thanks
I need help to insert slic 2.1 in his bios A07, but even i can't unpack bios from the exe file who i downloaded from dell site. My Service Tag: JCWJKP1
A RW-Everything question. I successfully modded the bios on a new P8Z68-V Pro using the Phoenix tool and an AcpiTbls file. All works perfectly and a big thank you to Andy P for his superb work on the tool. When I want to mod a newer bios, can I use a Rw-Everything file from the motherboard that has the already modded bios on, or does it have to be from a motherboard with an Unmodded bios ? I saved the acpi file from before the first mod, but would like to know the correct way to mod when a newer bios come out. Do I use the original file from Rw-Everything before the bios was modded, or is it ok to use a new one from the motherboard with the modded bios ? David.
Dell Ok, I downloaded that BIOS but have not had time to do anything else. However be aware that first you must install software in your machine called RW Everything utility. Why? Because once installed and you run in will give you the ACPI tables info on your existing, as is original unmodified computer. This report (created with this utility in the first place) is used with AndyP" tool afterwards in order to succeed. The lilnk that NoJuan999 is giving you will contain more info step by step. I have not tried to unpack the .exe yet but will let you know if successful when I try this weekend. Regardless of what I do you have your machine so I cannot generate the needed RW Everything report and obtain that data at my end, ok? Cheers
