Hi All, I read thru the stickies, this new ESD stuff is confusing to an old guy. I thought I had DL'ed a Win10 iso that would install to a clean disc, but when I burned it, it has an INF file, setup.exe, and 3 other EXE's. Haven't tried it to see if it's bootable, but I suspect not. Before I waste bandwidth DL'ing a bunch of useless junk, please tell me what I need to make a disc that will install Win10 to a freshly formatted HDD? Thanks! Russ
Yeah, so when I try that, it looks like it's gonna overwrite Win7 on my good 'puter- which I do NOT want to happen. Thanks for the "help", I suspected that quick of a response would likely be useless... Russ
he means genuineticket.xml method.. to new hdd upgrade 10.. keeping 7.. i just did it 2 days ago on new mobo.
OK, I don't know what that means. I did DL another ISO from the MDL link above, we will see. If this M$ crap gets any more complicated, I'll be learning Linux. In fact, my new POS Toshiba now boots Ubuntu Mint & OS-Remix, with Win10 to follow... Russ
This is original ISO, downloaded from Microsoft. Do not understand what you're saying. I've downloaded it myself, and installed in multiple pc, without any problem.
If you check my links> 1> is Pauls X Files 2> is Tech bench no hacks needed and latest Win10 straight from the man himself (M$)
I picked an ISO from the MDL link, burned it, and it loaded just fine. Found it strange there was nothing about entering a product key though. Guess because the laptop came with Win10 originally, it verified itself online during the install. Now I've got to get a working boot menu, I DL'ed EZBCD, but most of it is grayed out. Will be tinkering with the Linux GRUB menu... Russ
I am wanting to do a fresh install similar to OP. Can't I just download the ISO from MS and use the microsoft toolkit to activate?
