    Hi,

I have been trying to modify my HP DX2300 bios to have slic 2.1 in it.. and everything i have tried doesnt work.. I have used the tools on here (andy's tool bricks it / BIOS_PATCHER does nothing), and have read all i can find, and also tried with CBROM/CBROM32 and nothing seems to work, it either totally stuffs up the bios or says its done, but then when i use SLIC toolket 3.2 it says its still slic 2.0...

I have an eeprom programmer so can recover from bad flash..

    thanks for any help..

Some smart cookie in china (i think) managed to modify the DX7400 bios, it is a newer model of the DX2300, both mother boards made by MSI and look pretty much the same except the 7400 has extra RAM slots.. They have inserted a ISA.ROM into the bios, with the ISA.ROM having the SLIC 2.1 in it..

Here are links for the DX7400 bios:

    http://58.28.154.195/files/7400slic.zip

    And the ISA.ROM file:

I also noticed that the BIOS_PATCHER program i download from here has two files, CPU_FILES.STV and FILE_BUF.STV, and am interested to know why and how they are used.. Whenever i tried to use CBROM.EXE on the bios to insert the ISA.ROM i would get an error saying there was not enough space in the in the bios, even though CBROM BIOS.ROM /D said there was 400k of free space.. How did you guys get around this ?????
