    Thanks for all the help, I have managed to change all the info in the BIOS with the tool and now there is no message about "No serial" BUT i am still getting Windows not genuine message and when I enter the key ending 3Q6C9 from the link above it still says invalid! Please let me know what to do now to get back to being genuine now that the BIOS has been sorted.

    Many thanks

    I downloaded the windows genuine tool but it says its invalid I also just tried to activate via phone and was told i may be using counterfeit software!

    One stupid thing I did do is change the key to one from another website which MS says was blocked, I cannot change that key back to the HP one now!

    Yes I know it was stupid but surely now that I have input all the BIOS info I should be able to use the HP code from the link on page 2?

    I'm doing yet another System recovery now and hope that sorts it even though I'm not even sure it will as it didn't yesterday! I'll post back with a diag report again if it fails to sort it.

    Thanks

    Ok so far so good, laptop now recovered and now genuine again, first thing I checked was the key and its now the HP one (Lesson learned not to use online keys)

    So it seems thanks to all the clever peeps on here my mother may have her laptop back to normal so all i can say is many thanks to all who helped, you all do an amazing job considering HP and MS were a waste of time!

    Many thanks again

    There sure is, I did look but it all looks very tech heavy for my little brain with so much info and when messing the BIOS I didn't want to just chance it! Some very helpful peeps on here.

    I will still post the MGAdiag report next just to see what changed there were.

    Many thanks

    Thanks for the replies, I'll read up on how exactly to go about doing what you mention above but what could/would happen if I don't do it?

    The reason I ask is that everything seems to be working fine now? Do you think I realy need to do the above as knowing myself will end up doing something wrong and messing it up!

    However if you tell me I should do it then I will

    LatinMcG I'm not sure I follow what you mean in regards to the old hacked .iso the laptop was shop bought? Can you explain for me please?

    Many thanks

    Spoon

    Edit - I downloaded Watfix and Daz's loader, I know how to run scannow etc from the CMD prompt in Admin mode but am unsure about the loader as my windows is now genuine so not sure if I still need to do this?

    no need to run daz loader if its working activated

    Code:
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watadminsvc.exe[hr = 0x80070002]
    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\npwatweb.dll[hr = 0x80070002]

    File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watweb.dll[hr = 0x80070002]
    They haven't been altered. 0x80070002 simply means they were not found.

    0002 = File not found
    0003 = Path not found

    Thanks for the help again, I'm still in the process of installing updates, gazilions of the things! Had a couple of issues with some not wanting to install but done them on their own and they installed and had no more problems so again all seems fine.

    I wont post again on this thread unless I have more issues so just wanted to say thanks again for all the help

    Not necessarily a problem. Those four files are installed by the wat update kb971033. The update is either not installed or improperly installed. OP could install the update, or uninstall/reinstall if it is already listed as installed.
