Hello. I have a problem. I bought a 8470p laptop with a locked BIOS. After that, I ordered an unlocked chip on E-bay and installed it. Now I have access to the BIOS, but it does not save any changes, and BIOS languige is Chinese. So I can not update the BIOS. When the laptop reboots, the LED blinks three times 5 times. I tried to change the system information, but I can not unlock MPM using SMC. In general, everything works, but I need to change some BIOS parameters and update it. How can I do that?

Thanks for this interesting topic and all the members that contribute to it. I have been reading and making a backup of my BIOS myself. Can someone with programming skills remove the BIOS administrator password from my backup? I have included the BIOS with the same version from HP.

Mazzif, Won't you improve your famous tool as to include newer '70p model bios chips?

 

Dear Mazzif I have checked all the forum, and do not see anything regarding 8470P model. I tried with the HPBR-WIN32 ISO, and ran shotgun, but no luck. I noticed there is no .exe for this model. I am not very confident in reprograming the BIOS so I would like to have your advice on this.

I replaced the ‘VSS_store’ data section from my backup rom with a clean rom I downloaded from elsewhere. Then flashed the bios. Password gone!

Also - possibly related or unrelated MB problem. This machine has a power problem, but I noticed that after a fresh install of Win 10 - it went away. This laptop would not POST with the power adapter plugged in. Fresh install and problem is gone. Added the old HOTKEY utility and power problem returned. Uninstalled the Win 8 HOTKEY utility and power is now fine. Hmmmmm.

Did anybody try to unlock Zbook 17 G3? I read dump with c341a and there is no $VSS inside...
