The AR5B95 is what is shows in the permitted WiFi card list for my laptop. Probably a reasonable bet the performance is comparable. However, I found that the Ralink RT3592 is in the white list (not in the service manual, naturally) and it's 300Mbps with 2x2 MIMO. While I'm not happy with the Ralink RT5390 performance, it's possible that other Ralink WiFi cards can be better. Now I'm having the tough time of tracking down the actual part number, as it's not in the manual. I don't know if there's more than one incarnation and would be really upset if it turned out I got the wrong one.
So basically, if you have an RSA signed BIOS you can completely forget about mods. Unfortunately, I've seen postings that say it's possible but with risks. When drilling down into that further, I even discovered that some hackers have been trying to foil the RSA signed BIOS by also patching the flasher, then posting this as an available BIOS mod. While some people tried it and gave a thumbs up, there were others who complained about it not working. One person was finding that after about 3 hours his laptop would crash and he'd be forced to temporarily remove his CMOS battery in order to reset... only for the cycle to repeat. The ones who didn't complain probably didn't bother to come back with a "warning, didn't work" message. There are many lazy people out there who are only focused on themselves, and can't lift a finger to help someone else once they've gotten their pie. Based on this, it's rather infuriating that people suggest that it's possible. It's 99.9% impossible, meaning there's just a 0.1 chance that someone might be able to foil the RSA security and make it work. Those are terrible odds. I'm just thankful that I was able to finally discover this before making a terrible mistake of trying one of those hacks.
bricked my dv7-4065dx i tried to install the official hp bios update, but it bricked my pc maybe because i tried to install win7 version on win8 i followed all the steps, but i am not getting any interface when i boot by holding win + b. i mean display is completely off, like its dead caps-lock just blinks twice always help me please, i got the .bin and .sig
What you're actually looking for is the motherboard ID, which is then used for the filename (e.g. 358B --> 358B.bin, 358B.sig).
yes but the new efi type need the 0 in front and DECrypted if its EFI likely with .SIG the CQ60 i just did did not need EFI or 0 in front i updated this CQ60-413NR to latest bios without .SIG as the original file did not say DECrypted in phoenix tool. and yes its the board id which is under battery since late 2009 or so.

yes HDD can recover it to the one they shipped with. HP_TOOLS partition. or your bios was not corrupt all the way and needed cmos reset.
well hdd was not connected with unit at that time of recovery there was no display no sound just keyboard caps and num lock lights were blinking twice every 2 second even removing ram there was no response or change in system status removing cmos battery for a longer time may have done the trick i do not have understanding of corrupt vs bios requiring reset ....?
Hello Everyone! Laptop Model: G6-1250er Number under the Battery: 1670 - 120 Downloaded the F66 bios (sp60864.exe) (later tried and F33 sp54660.exe) and opened the 0166CF66.BIN file with the phoenixtool. (2.14) Named the file 0166C.bin and 0166C.SIG and put them in HEWLETT-PACKARD \ BIOS \ Current \ Did not work. USB would light up initially, then never light again. (CMOS Bat disconnected, Battery disconnected, HDD disconnected) 1: Turns On 2: Power Light is STEADY, WIFI LIGHT DISPLAY DISABLED, CAPS LIGHT DISPLAY ON 3: Fan turns on 4: USB Flashes SEVERAL TIMES STEADILY 5: Fan Shuts off. 6: Steps through 2-5 repeat infinitely. What can be taken in this situation?
Tried with the names 01670.BIN 01670.SIG, no result. On the manufacturer's website did not find utility is for my laptop model. Which tool can be used in this way or recovery is impossible for me? Tried HP BIOS Update UEFI 2.3.0.0, 1.4.0.0, 2.2.0.0, HP UEFI Support Environment 4.1.0.0, 5.1.1.0.
do you know what mean with this: I made an educated guess to the locations and it worked. On reboot I was able to get into BIOS. Here are the locations that I wrote 0x00 to: 0x3113BE to 0x3113D1 inclusive 0x311434 to 0x311464 inclusive 0x3114AF to 0x3114C2 inclusive Be sure to check what is there in your BIOS before flashing those ranges. Here is the text that is immediately before the areas you should flash: HP_TempBIOSAdminScancode HP_BiosUser00BIOS Administrator HP_BIOSAdminScanCode The ranges should start 3 bytes after the last ASCII byte in the above text references. The ranges end on the byte before the following code: "AA 55 7F". This is what worked for me.
Hey guys, I bricked my computer during a bios update. Laptop Model: dv6 - 3032tx Number under the Battery: 1440 - 100 I Followed the steps and got my F29 .bin, put it through pheonix (couldn't get a .sig due to no rw of my bricked computer) ended up with 01448.bin and put it into /current Inserted usb, plugged in power, held down windows + b, held down power for 3secs and after 40secs or so got the HP recovery window. It said "initializing..." but afterwards came up with "the system bios recovery failed" and "continuing with startup, press enter, 10..9..8.." obviously when I pressed enter my computer shutdown. Tried multiple times but to no avail. I tried it with an earlier bios F23 but with no luck. Even tried taking the .sig that pheonix created during its workings and named it 01448.sig but got the same result. Is it because I don't have a proper .sig file? If so, recommendation for getting one? Thanks in advance.
