    @Latinmcg

really greatful just followed your steps for my HP DV 6 7009tx(windows 7) and was successfully able to recover my bios. Just for info only the oldest bios from HP site worked in phoenix tools. In all other cases it shows error "not inside chip" something like that

    Hi,

i have a HP 250 G2 F7x39EA Notebook and got it bricked too.
I downloaded the Bios Version F08 named sp64684.exe and extracted it.
There i get a 0218D.BIN and a 0218B.fd. Unfortunately the thing with the Phoenix tool doesn't work.
When i open the files i get the error message "not phoenix/dell/insyde/efi bios".

What can i do to make this work? Would be very happy if someone could help me or maybe give me a hint for another method that might work.

Good time of day for everyone!
Maybe this is not the place for such reply, but I had HP 2239sr, based on 184A platform. Fortunately, there is working BIOS in it, but I want to upgrade my BIOS to F.29 (now - F.17) and it is not possible for me to use HP utility, provided on the site. (I am a Linux user!) I thought, BIOS recovery this way is a good, platform-independent way to replace convenient BIOS upgrade procedure. But I tried many times to start this recovery using LatinMcG`s files with main .bin file from recent firmware, but the is no success. I guess it is because .sig files aren`t suitable for latest firmware and are unique for each version of firmware! Is there any way to decrypt latest firmwares of HP and to get .sig files? Or (the worst variant) does somebody have notebook, built on 184A or similar with upgraded BIOS to F.29 and with intact HP folder in EFI partition? I would have been very grateful if somebody had provided me with this files! Excuse me again, if it is not a right place for such reply! If so, please, point me right way. Inspiration to everybody!
P.S. Excuse me for my bad English, please!

I just downloaded the latest bios update from the link someone gave, and when i run it in phoenixtool it gives me an error saying: "Not Phoenix/Dell/Insyde/EFI BIOS" Every other step is done... can anyone help a noob out?

Below is a picture of the error and of the contents of the new bios file as seen with WinRAR.

    UPDATE:
So I have been working at this all day, here is where I am: I have a HP dv6-2066dx Rev: 3635 2 led blinks pause, then repeat=BIOS corruption. I have downloaded the sp47531 which corresponds to my notebook. I have phoenixtool. I extracted the contents of sp47531 and renamed the 3635F13.FD file to 03635.bin and ran it thru phoenixtool, BUT I never got any .sig files, all I got was a 03635_SLIC.bin file which I then renamed 03635.BIN and put in both the HP/BIOS/Current and HP/BIOS/New folders. So def no .sig files from this process for me. I used sp57448 setup utility to create the HP directory tree with the BIOS/Current and all that on my USB stick. Now before this, I was a whole different process and when I did the WinButton + B + Poweron I was getting 2 beeps (Memory parity error) then shutdown. After setting my usb as written above, I get 1 beep (Memory and shutdown. and still nothing.

    UPDATE:
I have got a hold on the exact same model of notebook as mine, found out the BIOS version is F.08 but this new one has had its HDD formatted aswell. Still, anyway this could help me?

Thanks LatinMcG i used your windows 8 method on page 38 for my hp envy 4-1015dx it came with windows 7 it has legacy mode. I just rename the 01894.bin.dec and rsa.sig files i got from phoenix tools to 01894.bin and 01894.sig then copied HpBiosUpdate.s12 from HP_Tools:\Hewlett-Packard\BiosUpdate folder rename it to 01894.s12 then put all the 3 files in HP_Tools:\Hewlett-Packard\Bios\Current folder. It worked after that.

    @LatinMcG

I'm really needing some help !

    I have a HP Envy4 1150 BR.
After BIOS update (sp66773.exe), computer is not booting anymore.
I've tried to follow the steps described, but I do not have any .bin file, just the .FD.
I tried with the previous BIOS version also, that it's the one that was working (sp64089.exe), but I have the same issue.
Last try was looking for the oldest BIOS available, that is this (sp58874.exe), and this one came with the .bin file, but I still get the same error when using phoenixtool:
    "Start Extracting

    Finished Extracting
    No module compression used
    Not Phoenix/Dell/Insyde/EFI BIOS"

    Pleeease, someone help me!

If I can fix this on my own (with your help, of course), I'm willing to pay anyone who can help me solving this a beer...
    LoL

PS.: I'm not able to place links yet, perhaps the sp*** help...

    Originally had Windows 8.
I do not have access to the partition, as I wiped the disk on the first week with the computer...
My computer has an internet battery, do you know if is it also under it?
The files I downloaded, and extracted (.FD) are all 01894.

    Thanks !

HP Envy 4 and 6 Bios Recovery

    1. Format a USB to FAT32 and rename it HP_TOOLS
    2. Download this: sendspace.com/file/hv5k2v
    3. Extract and paste it into the root of the USB
    4. Turn off your computer
    5. Plug your laptops power plug in.
    6. Initiate the BIOS recovery by pressing and holding the Windows key + B at the same time while the computer is off. Still pressing the Windows key and the B key, press and hold down the Power button on the notebook for 1 second, and then release the Power button and the keys.

    Hello,

I have searched this thread and i didn't find what i am looking for, so here goes:

I have flashed a few months ago the latest bios for my HP Probook 4530s. Since then, my dedicated video card doesn't work so i am trying to downgrade the current BIOS (F. 50). I don't have the HP_TOOLS partition on my hdd and i will use a usb drive.

I have tried to put the .bin and .sig file in the USB-Drive/Hewlett-Packard/BIOS/New and then in Hewlett-Packard/BIOS/Current and didn't work.

Any idea how to downgrade? Please help.

L.E. PhoenixTool is not generating any files. I used the bin file from SP61104.exe (BIOS is 68SRR, System Board ID 167C)
