u cant use the F2 bios update method because it requires .sig and we dont have it.
flash and if fail re recover again.
sometimes it works if u use fresh windows not one that has issues.

what worked was having the 0 in front of file.. on older 2009 non efi no 0 needed

    Hello,

I send information, for remove whitelist, but I don't have response :)

I decided to do it, on my own, coz I don't have any answer.
    Ok, what i have done

    1. Downloaded Bios from HP site.
    2. I have created "bootable USB disk on key".
    3. I get from it a file "68LTU.BIN".
    4. Using phoenixtool214 I have extracted file.
    5. (don't remember names) inside of them (both) I have switch ID of old card to new one and save.
    6. In phoenixtool214 I have set "SLIC/SLP (from catalogue inside phoenixtool214) and RW file (generated by me).
    7. After all I have status "SUCCESS"
    SLIC LOG: (unable to attach).

    Right now I have:
    68LTU.BIN
    68LTU_SLIC.BIN

Now I need only make last steps in Remove-whitelist-check-add-ID-s-to-break-hardware-restrictions-mod.

Before I start flashing bios I have a question:
If something goes wrong, this "USB stick", what i have create in step 2., will work for rescue?
Or I need to make USB stick as showed in this thread?

Thanks for help :) and know I'm only a newbie :) (I'm unable do add links).

Hi guys, I am new here. I already passed more than 20 hours reading and reading and I still could not repair my laptop. I got an hp dv7 4380es. After I update a mod BIOS the startup keeps running the HP Bios Update and shows this message: The systems bios recovery failed. I already downloaded the original bios from hp sp55299.exe and the UEFI System Enviroment sp57448.exe to create the USB HP_TOOLS. I used phoenixtool 2.1.4 to gerenate the bin and sig files, but the sig was not created. I putted the bin file renamed to 0163D.bin and 163D.bin in current folder. Everytime I power on my laptop, the mute and wifi leds stay red and I see the pendrive reading, but nothing happens. Everytime it runs HP BIOS UPTADE and keeping rebooting. I do not know what to do anymore. Somebody could give a hand?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

    It says Rev: 163D - 120.

And there is another important point. None of thoose keys combination appears to work here. Cause everytime doing or not doing it gets to HP BIOS UPDATE. But always with the same message: The system bios recovery failed. And reboot after that.

I tried thoose files but I do not know what I am doing wrong. I renamed then to 0163D.BIN and 0163D.SIG, 163D.BIN and 163D.SIG. Putted them in current and previous folder but nothing happens.

    I'll try right now

I removed the hard disk and the usb now keeps reading sometimes and than stops. The wifi and sound keeps on red and the screen remains in black. No beep is emitted.

Hello. I Have read everything here and want to ask, if you have any idea, how to get proper bios that will phoenixtoll work with? I have HP ENVY dv7-7306ed and it is bricked. All 3 BIOS versions (F.22, F.23, F.24) from HP site came in phoenix with the same message - "Not Phoenix/Dell/Insyde/EFi BIOS". Any suggestion how to make USB recovery stick? Thank you.

None of these worked. I found a guy that called HP and they did not want to give the new BIOS RECOVERY TRIGGER. I guess mine is different too.

its called EFI secure boot paranoia.. they want to keep as much as possible secret... they dont care if u have a problem with board.

more reason to NEVER BUY HP!!! they can shove their whitelists up their mini pci-e!

Thank you very much, but I am facing now another problem - my USB drive wont work. When I plug it into laptop, nothing happens - no light comes when I press power button and the system starts to boot. It has read it several times before, but I had bad files stored on it. Now nothing. Any idea, what can I do? Drained power, no battery, removed mSATA, no HDD, changed RAM, left only 1 slot full. Why USb is not accessible, when it was? It is working fine in WIN8 in other laptop.

when u were doing recovery, u shut it down within 2 minutes ? might have been flashing recovery and u stopped it. now its worse.. bootblock dead?
ALWAYS let it run 5 minutes at least.. or u might corrupt the bootblock worse.
update bios to newest again if it turns on as u are running a way older bios if u recovered with link i gave u.
load setup defaults in bios settings?
