Hi Plowe at 1 Deleted all partitions and info from the 500GB disk 1 or 2 partition at the 500GB disk? 5 it booted and did all the server install and whs install A whs install will start?
I know the link, but the versions mentioned there do NOT exist any more (ie Imagemagic) Will the later version work OK? 500Gb disk, restore the image as IS (do NOT resize) In point 5 he means that the machine done what it needs to do, basically build itself from the syspreped image Then you install drivers for ie network adapter & graphics (maybe chipset) and do the rest of the setup from the client connector software sebus
Old post but maybe this answer helps someone else. I've had ex475 for a year in use, love the little black box. At this moment the only practical limitation is 2TB hdd max.size but you can install several drives (duh). So 4 internal drives and one external e-sata for 48x series gives 10TB. Older 47x models have more advanced e-sata controller: it can handle up to 4 drives with port multiplier giving 16TB available storage. For someone looking the maximum total storage, older 47x models are better choise. Just add 2GB ram and perhaps faster AMD CPU Of course you can further add regular usb drives. They are just slower and coolness-factor isn't the same
The later version is ok in my VMware system. If I used 640Gb disk, could be ok? I try again in VMware.See photo. It's not working.
Can't read Thumbnails (even with magnifying glass) Anything more than 20 Gb will work What is the actuaL MESSAGE? sebus
The Windows Home Server Console annot start because the Windows Home Server Storage Manager service is not running. Please resart Windows Home Server. If the problem persists contact Product Support. and restart still warning it. only csys) drive after restore? Could you give me a easy install Manual? Thanks.
Post 27, there is nothing more to it You could also try this: restore image to same size (no resize partition) and before reboot create primary partition in the rest of the empty space (if using WinPE to restore then diskpart will do nicely) If you do not know some from the above sentence then read before attempting sebus
Hp ex490/495 Hey Sebus, Have you heard about the new HP SmartMedia Servers ? They have new GUI and even better OSX support, not sure if its new 'Add-Ons' or a revised build. I'm hoping its better 'Add-Ons' I don't wonna rebuild my WHS again...
boot your PC that would become MSS with WinPE CD or USB & run the WHS_RECOVERY_SERVER.EXE (ofcourse you need to have the correct NIC driver build-in) sebus, where can I find WHS_RECOVERY_SERVER.EXE?
sorry, not been online for a while. as sebus said, its as easy as following the information. One drive, with no partitions, let the image make the partition sizes when it is copied over. once the machine has booted up initially, just install the network or chipset drivers, and then use the connector software from another machine to get the whs part of the installation completed. I am now stuck trying to get this activated, as i have no experience with oembios etc... I do however have a legitimate oem key, and would love to know if anyone can give me an easy step by step to getting my whs activated with legit key.
plowe, if you used the Snapshot image from me it already HAS the oembios files for HP incorporated!, all you need to do it simply edit DMI on your board with Hewlett-Packard string Is has inside LEGAL HP OEM key! from the Smartserver See the XP forum how to edit DMI if you do not know sebus
thanks sebus, i've been looking all day and am none the wiser on how to edit my dmi, any usefull link or explanations?
