    i have laptop Hp pavilon g6-2165sx
    i have 2 ram slots every slot installed 4gb ram
    can i replace with 2x8 Gb ram

    if i tried to add 2x8 Gb is there a problem or maybe it will burn???

    In the worst scenario the PC will not boot or will not recognize the full amount once booted.

    If you don't find an user that actually tried that combination, the best way is to order the ram on amazon or similar service where is easy to return the wrong ram and get the money back.

    You can also check if your chipset has a generic limit. In that case, no matter the firmware installed, you have no chance.
