HP Pavlion Dv5z-1000 LapTop

    I have a HP Pavilion Dv5z-1000 that when I turn it on the screen stay black as in doesn't come on and Number lock light and the Cap Lock light come on and off at about 1 or 2 second intervals. Any one have an idea as to what is happening?

    insert windows DVD for Repair .

    Could you please tell the sequence of flashes?

    Could be a defect CPU, GPU, BIOS corruption etc.

    There should be a certain number of flashes, then a break, followed by a certain number of flashes etc.
    Could you please tell the sequence?

    Loads of complaints about the DV-series black screens, not booting or running 20/35 degrees hotter than chips specs. :(

    Try this:
    - Remove battery and charger.
    - Hold down power button for 30 secs.
    - Replace charger only and see if it powers on...
