Minor update to Windows package. Fixed some bugs that went un-noticed, combined DOS tools in this build. Its now pretty much a universal package. Boot to USB to gather system information. Then either run DOS tools right away, or then remove USB and use in windows machine to create more keys using HP BIOS Unlock.exe. Boot back to USB to run shotgun bat for keys created from windows.

Just used the tool on my Elitebook 8440P, worked first try, no problem!
Only had to restart 2 or 3 times before the second run would actually run, but after that, BIOS totally cleared and unlocked!

Great work, finally done with replacing the BIOS chips on those d**n Pro and Elitebooks!

Thanks a bunch! Grtz, Tom_Da_Man

Try to go to the BIOS with the ESC - key instead of using the F keys. It did this too on my Elitebook 8440P, but worked with ESC-Key! Just give it a try!

    Mazzif,

What program are you using to create your image files? I've tried loading your software on both USB and HDD, neither of which are bootable (based on my locked boot order, your images work great on other computers). I seem to get some sort of response from the CD/DVD drive though I'm having trouble creating a bootable CD/DVD that is consistent with your image files.

    Cheers!

Images were created using the included USB Image Tool. You wont be able to simply burn the image to CD/DVD any more then you could burn a CD ISO to USB. See my OP and view the usage video. If restoring to HDD you will need to tick an option in USB Imaging Tool to see HDD. Also cd/DVD isn't an easy option because I'm writing data not just reading. And the Dos sata cd/DVD driver issues.

Mazzif, Thanks, this worked great on my Elitebook 8440p. Do you have a place to donate money to you for your efforts? You should embed a donate link in the instructions. I don't have a lot but I will be happy to donate what little I can to you.
    Thanks again!!!

This method to force BIOS update works with the 4310s. Make sure USB is formatted FAT32, make sure your files are correct, make sure the directory structure is correct. If you still can initiate the recovery, try a new usb thumbdrive, try a different port.

I have no experience with the 4421s. I would try DOS version and use reprogram option and see where we land from there.
