Use the Windows based tool, select any model and click make all. then USB boot to DOS and run shotgun.bat

I have an HP 6830s. The harddrive is completely dead, so I need to reinstall everything and start from scratch. When I was given the laptop, the BIOS was password protected, and the original owner (my girlfriend's elderly grandmother) doesn't remember setting anything up, leaving me more or less borked.

Any chance your program would work with this model? I have set up a blank harddrive with the latest DOS image, and in the shotgun mode it says it worked and restarts the computer, but I still can't access the BIOS...

    Thanks for any help.

Watch the output, sometimes it indicates at the end, that you must run the utility a second time. It could be that. Take some photos if you can, that will help identify any issue.

To me it looks like it thinks it worked, but it didn't actually do anything...

Can you tell me then also give a tip? under 64 he says I feel is not supported.
So now I have only the option it with the hard drive to make?
because I can only boot from the hard drive.
apology because I so demand, but do not want to make more stress than necessary to me :)

Using the included USB Image Tool and set the Option to 'Show non-removable devices (USB HDD)' while you have a SATA Drive attached via USB adapter. You can then Image my tools to the HDD, and replace you original HDD with the new one, then boot as usual. You'll have access to my tool set then.

That was an awful adventure, but I made it through, and first things first, I would like to express a huge thanks to you.

So, I tried to do the forced BIOS update. I tried three different USB sticks before realizing that it wouldn't work without the original (dead) hard drive installed due to a glitch. So I popped it in, and it worked. Sort of. It restarted, and then prompted me for a password. I was no longer able to do anything. As soon as I turned it on, it beeped, then asked me for the password. Eff.

I cursed at it for a while, and then disassembled it and took out the stupid little CMOS battery that they have buried far deeper than it needs to be. I washed the dishes, made my lunch for tomorrow, and came back and reinstalled everything and turned it on, and was now able to boot off of my working hard drive which I installed your DOS program to, and it did it's shotgun thing, and now peace is restored and I am happy again :).

So I can confirm that your tool works on an HP 6830s with the latest BIOS F.20 installed, but eff was it ever a pain to get this far. Now I still have to try to recover the dead hard drive and make it good again... Blah.

But again, many thanks to you for all of your help. :worthy:

I'm glad for your success. Locked boot order can be a challenge, but its still very workable. Power-On-Password protected, is prolly where the buck stops. Thanks for sharing your story.
