Often times, pressing F1 at boot, will display this. My tools will also collect this information automatically. Simply booting to the USB collects the information. Then running the windows based tool, from the thumbdrive (while in windows) reads that information automatically. That error is the product from NOT following the on screen prompts. Some models require a second run. The output will tell you if you need to run it again.
I am having problems downloading the tools the windows or the dos from box.com please advise if any body has another link or can send directly I will appreciate.

Need DL link also, thanks for your work. Great dig on the DOS version! Hope it works when I can download it.
Mazzif, Thank you. It really work for my probook model 6460B. You made a big contribution to this community.
Hello Mazzif, I would like to really thank you for your amazing job. It wasn't an easy procedure for my 8540W Elitebook but I used the 8540w Probook and it worked. ( I had to do the procedure 2 times for resetting the Bios password without error) After this, I also faced the error "System Board OOA Product Information Not Valid" I solved it using HPDU.rar running NBDMIFIT.BAT and answered questions. (System Config ID 25 zero) Cheers Leo
I'm looking at an EliteBook 8530p. Running the current version of the utility after booting into DOS, I choose number 10 for "ProBook 8530p" but the output says EliteBook 8530p. It seems like it should be working, it doesn't say unsupported model or any other sort of access denied message, it says "Invalid UID:" and the 32 character string that the utility just extracted. Any idea what might be going wrong? e: I've already tried resetting the UUID e2: I DID IT!! I read Mazzif's post #20 from this thread about upgrading the BIOS before running the tools. BIOS password successfully reset! Thank you Mazzif for this great utility!!
Hello Mazzif, I'm using an EliteBook 2570p, does it possible to support this model? If current version tools cannot support, is there any idea, I can help for testing...
Hi, thank you for your USB bios reset image I was wondering if you could help me further. I have a HP 5310m and I managed to lock myself out of the bios I cannot get passed the password and I do not wish to take the laptop apart. Do you have a program that could help me? thanks for your online videos as well, very helpful cheers
HP Support was very helpful with providing SMC.bin files for 3 8470p's that had BIOS password locks. The laptops were recycled and with no warranty and HP still provided the files free of cost. Since this tool doesn't support the 8470p, HP was my only option other than returning the laptops.
Hi, My Probook 4530s when start asking for a password for a user, also the Admin needs a password, so there is no way to be able to boot to a USB thumbdrive. and its not going to boot to HDD unless a password entered. any clue for this case ? I did a BIOS update but that didn't do anything with the password issue. Thanks
I still have not deciphered the SMC.BIN, maybe YEN will get involved in that party Sounds like a 'Power on Password' for which I have no solution. A call to HP for support or a trip to eBay for a new chip may be in order.
