Sorry for the lack of responses, I have been in the process of moving. There is still no advancement on the **70 series. If anyone has an smc.bin from hp and would like to share it along with their uuid/sn, the info may be helpful in inlocking the **70.

I'm a little confused by what your error is. Windows Key + B is for forcing BIOS update (will not reset password) but will allow compatible models with outdated BIOS to be updated, so that they can be unlocked running my tools. If your machine will not boot to USB, you should use the same steps you tool to make the USB and apply them to a USB attached SATA HDD and use that HDD in your laptop to boot from. Provide more details....

This sounds like a "power on password'. Unfortunately, I have no solution for this. Replacing the chip may be the only option.

Hello Mazzif. Just a heads up about your utility... the SHOTGUN.BAT file is located in the wrong folder, or ALL.BAT file is pointing to the wrong folder. Currently, SHOTGUN.BAT is located in the BIN folder, but according to the batch file should reside in the ALL folder.

    [ALL.BAT]
    @ECHO OFF
    CD ALL
    CLS
    SHOTGUN.BAT

Also... You recommend formatting in FAT32 in your video, but once the USB is imaged with the latest version of the HPBR-WIN32.img, the USB shows a regular FAT16 file system.

Thanks for all the great work you have done!

Thanks for the feedback. If (and when) you run 'HP BIOS Unlock.exe' from the USB Drive, within Windows, and produce a set of keys using 'Make All", the program will create in USB_Drive:\output\all all the keys as well as a new shotgun.bat file. These files do not exist until that 'Make All" is clicked. The Idea being that once you have used the Windows based utility to create all possible keys, you will then reboot to the USB Key. The autoexec.bat will CD to \output. Once there, you can now issue the command "ALL" which then will CD to \all and run SHOTGUN.BAT (which then run all the keys just created from windows). The other shotgun.bat in \bin is for the DOS based utility 'Shotgun feature'. They are very similar, but as I've always stated the Windows based util still offers better model support at this time.

So 2 utility platforms to (Windows and DOS), 2 shotgun.bat files in 2 directories.

To touch on the formatting, remember my video is very dated, and the software has changed and evolved to become a more user friendly package. Formatting isn't even really required anymore. FAT16/FAT32/NTFS, shouldn't make a difference wen applying the image. Prior, user needed to format, and make his own DOS bootable USB Drive, then copy over the files, blah blah blah. Much easier to DL a package and click 'Restore'.

    Hi Mazzif

I have been trying out your HP bios reset utility and I have tried it on the HP Elitebook 2570p machine. I have five of these machines with bios locked with passwords but I cannot get them to unlock. I have downloaded the latest version which uses the same base elements but with an updated hpbr-win32 image file.

I have tried using the 2560p element with my serial and UUID numbers for the 2570p machine and run it on its own on the bootable DOS disk but it tells me that the Utility to set TPM on and then the note book is not capatible.
I have also tried the shotgun version but that just runs all the elements after I have used the make all option.

Is there any plans to support the 2570p machine?

    best wishes

So, I used this tool (the dos one) did the first run it told me to do a second one then I restarted, got the white screen saying missing system board info so I did the re-program thing and restarted but I got the screen again, so I ignored it and did the second run and it said done, so I checked if I could see the bios and I could so I was happy. Reset it my computer (HP elitebook 8460p) just to find out that I keep getting the blue screen of death right before the computer could start up.:(
So I was wondering if the reset tool could fix this or if somebody could please tell me what to do!!:(
