Hi, Mazzif, I need your help: usb tool didn't work on a Elitebook 8440p recently upgraded to F.24 bios (laptop reset - probably better protected) and I couldn't revert to prior bios version F.13. Please tell me if it's possible to downgrade bios. Thanks in advance
Can you be more descriptive than "'usb tool didnt work' I havent tried, but the force BIOS recovery method may be able to revert versions.
Hi Mazzif, I have successfully cleared the bios password on my Compaq 6730b. I initially got the error that the bios did not support the software. I then followed your procedure to update the bios. I went from F.08 to F.20. After the successful bios update the tool worked flawlessly. Thank you so much for your tool.
The elitebook 8440p with F.24 bios notebook resets when I boot from usb tool; the same usb worked fine on a probook 6450b and cleared bios password. I've tried both images (windows and dos environment) with same result on hp8440p: the startup blue wallpaper shows for few seconds and reset. Seems F.24 bios is indestructible. I tried to downgrade to F.12 or F.13 using force BIOS recovery; caps led is blinking, but nothing happens. After a couple of minutes I had to cut off power. I tried to use two usb pen drives, both 8GB Kingston, but different models.
Probook 6550b didn't found in patch and i try shotgun it's work and password remove i set new password and try every patch to know which one do the job it was 6455B thank again
Didn't try the tool yet, but can't wait to try it on my locked 8460p! Looks like you've done a great job Mazzif! I however do have one question, any possibility of only reseting the BIOS-password while leaving the TPM and it's associated keys intact?
I believe that you have the option to Accept (F1) or Reject (F2) the changes to the TPM and Fingerprint reader after reset. I have never tried pressing F2.
Hi Mazzif, Finally I landed in the great thread, wanted to know if this works on HP 8570w. is it a good idea to try shotgun? Thanks..
Im glad you found it, but unfortunately the **70 series is unsupported at this time. They are using a different method for recovery. I believe the 70 series came with a 3 year warranty. if yours is still covered, your best course may be contact HP Tier 2 Support and request a custom SMC.BIN file that you will boot from USB to reset the TPM/Password. As I understand it, replacing the BIOS chip using one from an eBay vendor (link posted somewhere in this thread) may also be successful (but I cant personally vouch for it)
Mazzif I have an Ebay Elitebook 2730P which I have managed to get Win 8.1 on and it is working really well The problem I have is a locked BIOS which made the install a nightmare - if I used a completely unformated HDD/SSD it thankfully accepted a USB drive for the OS install I tried your unlock tool (if I pull the SSD it will run) but I have the BIOS does not support the unlock error message. Do you know how to force a BIOS update on a 2730P - Google has let me down I then tried the pull the RTC battery trick and no luck - afterwards i saw mention of powering via mains only which might have been the issue Many thanks and thanks for all the hard work Gary P
I tried your software and it seems to work fine but, it didn't work on my HP Elitebook 8470p, the machine is warranted but I lost the original invoice will they accept it in warranty ?? Or is there any new version that supports the new models ?
Software works on 2560p fine. **70p series is really problem. I tried to replace bios memory on 8470p, but computer won't turn on, only Caps & Num leds flashing alternatively.
Hello. We have Probook 6560b and user set and then forgot password for BIOS. Warranty of HP finished, but you saved us Thanks a lot! After clear TPM I Reprogram PN, SN, CT, but I still have little problem: after restart notebook write message "Manufacturing Program Mode Set: 6 of 10". May be I not enter Asset Tag or date of start warranty? I tried to renew BIOS, but it is not help. What does it means? Have you any ideas how to dispose of this message?
Use the DOS utility, and option 3 to reprogram. When prompted for the Feature ID, use all 0's (14 or 24 depending on model). Use the same SKU/Part#, Serial etc.
