    Hey there.

I know its a little off topic but I am hoping you will have the answer for me.

I am trying to reprogram a 9470m. Not reset the password, just reprogram the numbers. My sister bought it on Ebay and it runs great except for the errors on initial post. I have the ndbmifit tools but I need to get it into MPM mode and can't figure it out.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Mazzif,

Great work you did man, thank you.

I tried my best with a HP Probook 6460b but nothing worked for me. Here's my situation. A friend brought me this laptop he bought from a guy on the street and asked me if I could do something with it.

There is no way to boot pass the HP Login. I'm ask to login as a user or BIOS Admin. I cannot even change boot order with F9, nada except System information with F1 and DIagnostics with F2.

    What I tried so far:

Boot with your image on a USB stick = Nothing. Tried 3 different USB sticks, CDs, same result. Any idea to force boot usb or cd?
Force BIOS Update with Win+B = Screen stays black with Caps Lock blinking and fan starts spinning. Tried 3 different USB sticks, CDs, same result.
Tried with another sata HDD with your img restored to it in case of LOCK BOOT ORDER.

After trying all that and leaving the new HDD in, I did notice a difference at boot up. Before swaping HDD, I was prompted with HP login for User or BIOS Admin. Now it only prompts for user login.

    Any suggestion? Advice? Questions?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks for the feed back. Sound like a Power-On-Password. My tools wont work here unfortunately. We need to be able to boot to something. As a side note, CD wont work here either, because we are not only reading, but writing. Unless of course We did like create a ram-drive at boot, and then copied everything to it and ran from there...blech...too much work. It is interesting about the HDDs though. My first thought is that the original drive has the HP_Tools partition and or is setup with HP Protect Tools with multiple user account set up. I cant say anything about HP Protect tools, I don't have any experience with it. But as far as I know, the PoP is good protection and very difficult to defeat. maybe try some common user name passwords for both and see if you get lucky. other than that, I think the only way to defeat it with software, is with an HP SMC.BIN bin file. This of course can only be had from HP. I have got nowhere with trying to decrypt the bins that I do have. Other option is bust out the soldering iron and remove the BIOS chip and replace it with one from ebay (I see them for about 20$), and from what I read it's not to difficult. I have not attempted myself though. I did purchase a programmer, so Ill be looking into this a bit more myself soon as it arrives.

Just for sh!ts and giggles, replace the original HDD

hold windows key+arrow up & arrow down + power
when the screen comes up with Logo, let buttons go, and quickly hit F10 rapidly
If we dont have SMC command failure message....
    click on security factory defaults
    and reboot -
    Enter BIOS....what happens?

You'll need to image the tool set onto a 2nd laptop sata hdd and boot from that. This process is talked about in my OP and elsewhere in this tread.

Mazzif. do you know if this tool can be used to reset the password on HP Revolve 810 G2? I have a bunch of these off lease and they all have admin bios passwords. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
