Hello, I want to thank you for the bios password remover. I have used it for almost 100 6530b; i have a question for you, if you can help me: is it an method to write the program on a CD? some laptops don't have the USB hard drive option active in the boot menu, i can only boot from the CD; i wanted to make a bootable CD but when i tried to write the image, i received an error. PS: i have read that i can use an external Hard drive to write the image, and then to replace the external hard drive with the notebook internal hard drive? is this ok?
go to ebay and buy the second sata drive device that lets you place a sata hdd in a cd slot they work great and cost about $12
Hello Mazzif and thank you once more for your great job You have really helped me once about 6 months ago and i kindly ask to help me once more if possible I bought a second hand 8440p from ebay and i can't boot to any media with any method If i boot without pressing anything after a few seconds it shows "Acceess Denied", Contact your admin etc... "Press enter to restart" If i press F10 during boot to enter bios it shows "Select User to Login". I have 2 options 1)Admin, 2)User If i select admin it asks for a password If i select the user it says access denied, contact you admin If i press F9 to select bootable USB i get again "Acceess Denied", Contact your admin etc... "Press enter to restart" Do you have any idea? I tried both USB flash and internal SATA bootable hard disk with no luck Thanks again in advance
This sounds like the worst kind, the Power-On-Password. Unfortunately, to use my tools, we need to be able to boot (to something) before a BIOS Password. Your options here are to Replace BIOS Chip, or maybe contact HP to see if they will help. But This is doubtful as its an Ebay purchase. Your last chance here is that maybe the original drive has the HP_Tools partition and or is setup with HP Protect Tools with multiple user account set up. I cant say anything about HP Protect tools, I don't have any experience with it. But as far as I know, the PoP is good protection and very difficult to defeat. maybe try some common user name passwords for both and see if you get lucky. other than that, I think the only way to defeat it with software, is with an HP SMC.BIN bin file. This of course can only be had from HP. I have got nowhere with trying to decrypt the bins that I do have. Other option is bust out the soldering iron and remove the BIOS chip and replace it with one from ebay (I see them for about 20$), and from what I read it's not to difficult. I have not attempted myself though. I did purchase a programmer, so Ill be looking into this a bit more. Just for sh!ts and giggles, with the original HDD hold windows key+arrow up & arrow down + power when the screen comes up with Logo, let buttons go, and quickly hit F10 rapidly If we dont have SMC command failure message.... click on security factory defaults and reboot - Enter BIOS....what happens?
At first i must admit that you are really fast on replying Holding windows key+up/down+power and then F10 leeds to nothing so i suppose i am not doing it right, or there is no hptools partition on the disk. (i 'll check the disk externally on my computer in a while). I'll give it some more tries. Unsoldering the bios chip and reprogramming it is not a problem since i am quite handy with soldering iron and i happen to have a universal programmer. So, assuming that i unsolder the chip what should i program it with in order to remove the account set up? Is there a .bin or .hex file available? (we are talking for an 8440p with intel GPU).
I am really the worst person to ask, as I have 0 experience there. I'm just starting to look into these methods myself, and I have read 2 conflicting methods. 1) Download BIOS from HP and flash or 2) Need a full raw BIOS dump from like Model to flash. I'm sure someone else here on MDL has a better answer than me at this point.
That's ok, you've done more than enough already. My sister has a notebook exactly like the one we're talking about. So i'm thinking to do is 1)unsolder and program the chip, if it doesn't work 2)i'll copy my sister's and flash it to mine. I'll keep a rom backup so what worse will happen? Btw do you or anybody else knows what chip exactly i have to mess with? Finally the hd does contain the hp protect tools partition so i'll try again accessing it somehow. Ofcourse in case you bump onto some new info i'll more than glad to hear it. Thanks again
Elitebook 8470 Hi mazzif thanks for all the work you have done. Just wondered if there was a way to do it on my elite book 8470. once again thanks
Hi Mazzif, Thanks, your tool successfully reset the bios admin password of my ProBook 6450b, using 'shotgun' mode. Afterwards Windows 7 started BSOD'ing during boot. This was because the SATA mode in the bios was reset from IDE to AHCI and Windows really does not like that.
Hello again Mazzif and the others, Finally i've done some progress. I tried various stuff until it did work. Initially i downloaded some full bios dumps but either the notebook did not boot at all or it was still locked with the same method my machine was locked already. What did work was unsoldering the bios chip from my sisters same machine (which ofcourse had no bios passwords) reading the content with a universal programmer and programming it to my chip. Of course now both machines have the same info (s/n etc) but there are tools to fix this. If you or anybody else needs the rom dump it can be uploaded on a file host service but i dont't know links are permitted. Please note that this dump is suitable for an 8440p with intel on board vga (68CCU with F.11 bios version) The chip that someone needs to program is a winbond 25Q64 (SOIC 8) which is located at the trackpoint and keyboard connector area on the mobo Finally i have no responsibility if anything goes wrong to you. It worked for me i can not guarantee it will work for you You should know what you are doing before messing with your mobo. Its quite easy to damage it. Thank you everyone and especially Mazzif
Pioneer! Might you have some screenshots? Or perhaps are able to draft a Step-By-Step Guide for others? Link to where one may purchase tools? Please post the BIOS Dump link (I can upload it to Mega). Thanks for sharing!
