From examining "usbit32.txt" contained in the HP BIOS Reset download, there appears to be something called "USB Image Tool 1.61." Is that merely used to package the admin. reset code? Anyway, there are four files called "usbitcmd.exe" along with "usbit32.dll" and "USB Image Tool.exe" along with "USB Image Tool Helper.dll" Do I copy all four files onto the drive? Thanks again for any assistance.
download and install HP Protect Tools to see if you can use the BIOS utility that is configurable through the Protect Tools menu's. Remember that its best to flash device bios first using the link on page 1. this works fine for me when i need to do it but i cant say the same for everyone else unfortunately. If your able to log into windows you should be able to use wifi/ethernet (RJ45) port to use internet. I can onyl go through steps AFTER you've given me more info.
Thanks Styfin, but aside from "portable" applications, I cannot install ANY software, including HP Protect Tools! Evidently, the company that originally had the computer was paranoid to an extreme and didn't want their employees altering or installing anything that didn't come from the company's servers. Likewise, with changing BIOS or other settings, which is why I need to get rid of the administrator password in the first place! So while I can get onto the Internet, I can't add or delete any programs, including antivirus. The machine is, therefore, pretty much worthless to me as is.
ry downloading tools direct from another device for your specific model and then try booting laptop into safe mode pressing F8 after boot screen comes on when powered on
I'm afraid I already tried that, and can't install anything in the safe mode, either. Darn good suggestion though, but this machine is really locked up tight! Maybe I'll just try flushing the existing drive and see if the "fix" works, anyway. I just wanted to get some answers about the HP BIOS Reset download, as I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info out there.
you aint stuffed at all tbh mate. i reckon the windows install has a specific "USER" profile as default rather than logging into admin profile. see what profiles there are and try changing a few things in user accounts in control panel etc. see what accounts there are and if theres any you can delete or to see if you can set the current user profile to admin. If its ex business then im guessing its maxed out to prevent such and such but id defo say theres a main admin account your not getting into.
As soon as I click "User Accounts" in the Control Panel (Win XP), a small "User Accounts" popup window asks for the password. The User name is: Administrator. I can also bring up a window to change the password, but need to enter the existing admin. password to make any changes. If booted into the Safe Mode, I'm greeted with a Logon Message, which will not accept the working Windows logon. Therefore, I can't even begin to get into user accounts or anything else! It even asks for a password to access MSCONFIG! I appreciate your help, but saying "… there's a main admin account you're not getting into" is, indeed, THE problem! LOL Would installing Mizzaf's "fix" onto the HDD do any good in this instance or am I really screwed? I could go out and get a "real" laptop, but wouldn't have nearly as much "fun" as trying to get into this one!
Good info there. first things first, dont buy another laptop as i like this kind of challenge and im guessing you do too. you can try getting into safe mode and removing accounts that way or using XP recovery disk. whats the actualy model of your laptop as your saying XP so guessing older model. i deal with laptops day in day out so i know what id do but i cant say the same for you. just try every trick in the book and maybe try using hirens boot dvd to try remove password
try ophcrack and nt boot emergency frpm pogo net or break down and buy toppassword (lots of coupons foe it) this not a rocket science task many of these posts remind me of a quote from Southpark lol
Yeah, I like challenges too, but I also like to win every now and then. So far, the computer is winning! Like I already said, I need a password to get into Safe Mode and CANNOT boot from USB or DVD!!! The laptop is an HP 2530p, and from the sticker, it originally came with VISTA, but the company substituted XP. From Hiren's (after the machine has booted), I can select Passwords / Keys, which brings up BIOS Master Password Generator, but evidently that has nothing to do with recovering the password that's already there. I'm not that familiar with Hiren's, so maybe I've overlooked something. From searching the Net, it's amazing how much garbage relates to deleting the admin. pw, including removing the CMOS battery. As we know, that's completely useless. I did, however, uncover a few old "send money" ads about Mazzif's fix. I'm totally confused! Is that program for sale or is it being offered free (or donation) on this site? Is that the same program contained in the "HP BIOS Reset" program that can be downloaded from this site? And again, would flushing the HDD and installing "HP BIOS Reset" give me a fighting chance? I have a logic analyzer and began disassembling the laptop in hopes of gaining access to the EEPROM and maybe retrieving a data dump. Of course, even if that works, the password is likely encrypted. In any case, gaining full access to all the components is rather daunting, and is no longer my first choice for solving the problem. Any further suggestions? And remember, I cannot change the boot order from HDD. Thanks!
Oldgeekcd: glad you're finding this amusing ... I'm not! I'm not familiar with ophcrack, but am looking into it and have already downloaded it to another machine. (The ancient antivirus program on the laptop blocks that site, along with a host of others!) However, if the laptop needs to boot from the CD, there's not a chance of it working. Need a more time to figure this out. Thanks!
Hello Mazzi )) How is going Work on unlocking bios from probook 6570b? Bad question? Can you please give a try with my: SN: 5cb3280rwl SKU: c3d57es#abu UUID: f429f2b8f1ede21195704099e5020020 which I managed to wipe anyway And bios ver. F. 61 Thank you
Hi Mazzif I know you are a busy man but any news about unlock bios tool or file for a HP 4330s? and also if there is any way to force to update the bios without having the bios admin pwd? I tried your method but it does not work . I wonder it has to do with fact it is mpm locked? thanks Frank
Hello everyone, Just wanted to confirm that replacing the BIOS chip removes every password on the Elitebook 8560w - I had an unknown power-on password AND a BIOS admin password on a motherboard bought on eBay (so it was impossible to fix anything, even with HP's SMC file). A replacement BIOS chip solved everything and was not difficult to replace.
Hi, Bought a HP Compaq 6730b, of course BIOS password but also Windows session password. Boot order locked on HDD, used the DOS version of the tool every thing went smooth, i got the message " all passwords clear etc " no error message. As i don't know if the system automatically reboot, i turned it off manually. That's were the trouble begin, when i turn the power on shortly after i got a black screen, i can't access BIOS etc. Did i do something wrong, how can i fix this ? Thanks for your replies.
WOW! just wanted to thank the op for this great utility. Worked fine for my Elitebook 2540p using shotgun mode. Wonderful.. Bios Admin Password now cleared.
