hello everybody.i have a HP 620,which has an administrator password in the BIOS.Please help with a password to unlock it.my laptop is a NOTEBOOK HP 620 running WINDOWS 7 X86. [serial number:CNU0260SST].Thanks very much in advance.
Hi everybody, maybe somebody of you can give me support in the following matter. For the last three months, I have been a happy owner of an HP EliteBook W840 G5 (W! 0 PRO 64bit). At the beginning of my use I had set the BIOS settings and also set a password (maybe I sometimes do things that I would have better not done, my mistake). I wrote down the password on a piece of paper that I can now find nowhere else. I now wanted to install a dual-boot setup (W10, Ubuntu Linux) and for that I would have to tweak some things in the BIOS. Without the password this does not work now. So I contacted the HP support, my UUID communicated (was validated) and asked for a SMC.BIN file to reset the password. The SCM.BIN file was sent to me via e-mail, after the instructions I created both a thumb stick and a volume on my NVME SSD (HP_TOOLS, subdirectory HEWLETT-PACKARD, BIN File in Root Directory) Unfortunately, the SMC method described by HP does not work (does not start) I always end up in the mask for entering the password HP has now closed the support case, I do not know what I can do any more Do any of you have any advice? to me?
Mazzif, Does it means that Will not work with an EliteBook 1040 G2? Also, can I open the file HP BIOS Password Reset 04-11-16.gz?, WinZip Will not do it. Thanks Regards
winzip is lame.. old trash. the newer elitebooks wont work as Hp has patched the workaround. read bios chip and post here.
Thank you for your answer. Is this what you need? Versión 1.6.1.0 -BIOS Current System BIOS Versión M76 Ver. 01.06 05/04/2016 Intel(R) GOP driver [5.5.1031] Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-5300U CPU [5.5.1031] If now how can I read the BIOS chip? Is there a way to unlock my BIOS (EliteBook 1040 G2)? Mi HP MotherBoard had a short circuit (with a little help of some water). The Soud and the network stop working. I bought a same MotherBoard model from china (HP ask for a new one $1.500). Everything works perfectly but i am not able to update the bios because my supplier lost the password. Thanks and regards
Maybe this helps: BiosCharacteristics={7,8,11,12,15,16,19,26,27,28,29,32,33,39,40,41,42,43} BIOSVersion={"HPQOEM - 1","M76 Ver. 01.06","HPQ - 10000001"} BuildNumber= Caption=M76 Ver. 01.06 CodeSet= CurrentLanguage=en-US Description=M76 Ver. 01.06 EmbeddedControllerMajorVersion=129 EmbeddedControllerMinorVersion=43 IdentificationCode= InstallableLanguages=14 InstallDate= LanguageEdition= ListOfLanguages={"en-US","da-DK","nl-NL","fi-FI","fr-FR","de-DE","it-IT","ja-JP","no-NO","pt-PT","es-ES","sv-SE","zh-CN","zh-TW"} Manufacturer=Hewlett-Packard Name=M76 Ver. 01.06 OtherTargetOS= PrimaryBIOS=TRUE ReleaseDate=20160504000000.000000+000 SerialNumber=8CG6123RXT SMBIOSBIOSVersion=M76 Ver. 01.06 SMBIOSMajorVersion=2 SMBIOSMinorVersion=7 SMBIOSPresent=TRUE SoftwareElementID=M76 Ver. 01.06 SoftwareElementState=3 Status=OK SystemBiosMajorVersion=1 SystemBiosMinorVersion=6 TargetOperatingSystem=0 Version=HPQOEM - 1
I just purchased a used HP Elitebook 840 G2 and replaced the motherboard. Cannot set the serial number. Does this method help with this? Also, the original file link appears dead. Is there anything out there that I can do? HP wouldn't help because I have no product information stickers on the thing.
get a cheap programmer. Ch341a (if u only need 1 time) or EZP2013 read bios chip to backup.bin (check if chip is 1.8 or 3.3 volt) send file and i can try to reset pwd in it then send back to flash and done. !! if u write someone elses bios dump, pc wont boot on that model likely.
Let see if someone can help me. I have the following idea. Because I have the old MotherBoard I can unweld the BIOS chip and weld it to the new one that has a BIOS chip that can not be accessed. I have found 2 BIOS chips one next to the other a winbond 25Q16BVSIG and 25Q18A. Which is the one that need to be changed? Will it work?
