HP 8560p, latest bios. Both generated 8560pa and 8560pb gives "Error code = 0x89" or Failed to load defaults... with same code. Any clues?

While I was able to update bios from USB using win+b method, I can't downgrade it to test with another one. USB activity blinks a few times, caps is blinking forever, after many minutes and removing power sources old (latest) bios is still there.

I located W25Q64CV flash, have a proper programmer for reading/writing it, so if someone can help this way, that's cool. Unfortunately HP in my country does not provide any chat/e-mail support and on US chat they declined to do anything because of not-my-region (sigh).

The EZP2017 nor the CH341A worked (later I found out that the BiosChip can not be read unless it has 3.3 volt of power supply)

I bought the Raspberry Pi 3B+ hardware and I made my own cable. Pictures attached. 20190205_113235[1].jpg 20190205_113235[2].jpg 20190205_113235[2].jpg

I installed debian and run flashrom….it did identified the chip easily but (…always is a but) I got the message that is shown in the picture attached.

Later I manage to read and save the file, but it only has 2.048 KB in size, smaller than the latest Bios (10.240KB) or the one that Mazzif sent to me (16.384KB).

    What am I doing wrong?

    I am stack.

    Hope he sees it.

rotfl.. u probably losing link to chip cause circuit around chip (caps or resistors) is draining it of current.
best to just take chip off the board and read it.

I know this is an old post but the link to the BIOS reset utility is not working. Does this utility work for only the listed models? I have several Probook 450 G1, Probook 6560B and a couple other HP laptops that I would like to remove the BIOS password on. The BIOS has also locked the book order on all the laptops to boot to the hard drive which in an easy workaround but I want to remove the BIOS password.

I could really use some help at the moment. I can't seem to locate the latest version of the HP BIOS Unlock tool since the one hosted by Mega was deleted. Just recently when I tried to update to the latest BIOS firmware on my HP EliteBook 8570w that I bought secondhand, I found out it was protected by a BIOS password. Could anyone send me a URL with the latest tool version?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Mazzif,

I'm writing here for the first time, but used your tool couple of times with success... thank you!
But now I'm stuck with one EliteBook 8530p where I tried "ProBook 8530p" since there is no EliteBook 8530p listed and received "The UUID is incorrect" message.
    Can you help me out?
In any case, thanks for your help!
