I'm trying to use this on an Elitebook 2530p but it's not working.
I've created the output files on the USB stick, rebooted, changed to the output directory and when I try and run any of 2530pa, 2530pb, 2530pc or 2530pd I get the message "this utility will not program for this serial number" and shows me the correct serial number.

When I run the HP BIOS Unlock program in Windows (it's version 2.5) I click Import and it fills in the correct serial number and UUID (I've checked them using Powershell) but it sets the model string to "530p" - dropping the "2" from the start. The same happens if I choose 2530p and then click Import.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Will have till Monday at the earliest so I can get my hands on a 2530p to simulate your issue. Try the make all from the version 2.5.also try the DOS version. Maybe try to reprogram to reset the serial number.

Was this the DOS or Windows version? The 8460w unlocks pretty easy.

    Max,

You will download the rar archive. Inside is an img file and an application folder with a utillity to re-image a usb drive. Insert your USB into your laptop, and run the application and 'restore' the included img file to your usb. This take just a few moments. After restoration, boot your laptop to usb, it will automatically collect your system information. Simply reboot your laptop to windows, and then run the 'HP BIOS Reset.exe' file from the USB and click import. This will import the information just collected and allow you to make your key. Click 'Make Key' or 'Make All'. This will make your keys and save them to the USB. Reboot again to USB, and run the Shotgun bat from the 'ALL' directory, or your single key.

Thats the basics. The DOS based system is less hassle, just boot to DOS and go, but it has slightly less model support at this time.

    Hi Mazzif,

First off, great work on this thread. I've read through all the comments and you're doing a great job replying to everyone!

Down to business. I have a PB 4510s. My BIOS is locked. My boot order is locked.
I've update my BIOS firmware (F.20) using your force method (thank you).

My question, since I don't have a hdd-usb tool and before I acquire one, will the BIOS for sure boot to the HD once I format the drive and install your software?

    Thanks again! :yeah:

Thanks Mazzif, was just the image part that was confusing me, after you explained that it was easy as pie, thanks a lot for your help.

Of course there is 'no' guarantee. There are many variables that I cant see or control. But in my testing (and personal usage) it's been a non issue to image my util to a SATA HDD, replace the HDD in the laptop and boot to DOS to run the app. The adapters can be found on ebay for around 6$ (USD).

@bdjfreestyle, I'm working on an update. For now, I recommend using the Windows based utility as it does have better support then the DOS based utility at this time.
