I might not have been clear: I was talking about the downloads from megaupload. They didn't work, but then I asked over at the board where someone had posted the links, and they promptly reupped them. But now the problem is (as someone referred to above): What I got seemed to be designed for laptops only. I popped it into my machine and got a message saying "This is not an HP or Compaq laptop" (or words to that effect). Do they really have different editions or could it just be some little (fixable) alteration (like deleting el.cfg) so people won't try to use the same disc on both their desktop and their laptop? Do we know whether what I downloaded was identical to the content of the links posted here? I believe the download size was the same.
This is the cover of HP Windows 7 Upgrade DVD I would appreciatte if anyone can share with me the 2nd disk "HP Upgrade Manager" that comes with the HP Software and drivers. I've the laptop and notebooks "HP Upgrade Manager", but I need that disk for desktop PC. I hope an awnser guys good luck!
Guys I've analized the 2 disks that the user has posted. The first disc is an upgrade DVD for HP Notebooks, it doesn't work on desktop PC (is necesary other disk for desktop PC's) The second disc is an Windows Home Premium DVD. Its the same as original except that is multilingual, it hasn´t hp wallpapers or simillar, is a DVD from microsoft. I've downloaded the 2 discs and I only can use the Operating system dvd. I've seen on hp website that your notebook has drivers for Win7. Probably these disc are for your Notebook, because they were designed for Notebooks. Try it! Good luck!
Doesnt work with the HP 6510b.. I have one myself which came with xp and i tried both dvd's. none really worked.
Hi Oldude, Kindly upload again "The upgrade DVD 4.04GB is in 7 parts 001 - 06 are 300M ea and 007 is 60.7M" since the shorcut is not working anymore! Best Regards, Fares
