HP Upgrade DVD Disk I purchased a HP Pavilion P6110F X64 Desktop Computer w/Vista Home Premium OS 64 in June and was told I would be getting a free copy of Home Premium 64 bit Windows 7 Upgrade disk after Oct. 22. While waiting, I did a dual boot with Vista 64 bit & Win-7 Ultimate 64 bit the day I purchased the machine. (smart move) Last week after getting the Home premium 64 bit windows 7 upgrade DVD disk as promised by HP - I did an upgrade (the rig already had 94 app's installed) to the Vista Home premium and after the successful upgrade I noticed the computer did run correctly however it didn't have the speed & response compared to the the (clean install) Win-7 Ultimate 32 and 64 bit installs that were on my other machines that were clean installs not upgrades. So I reinstalled the HP 64 bit Home premium using the the HP "upgrade" DVD Disk eliminating Vista, this time selecting "custom Install" instead of the "upgrade selection" (Already did app's backup) - NOTE: there is feature option to format the drive/partition your installing to using the HP upgrade disk and when finished as I thought the difference was like black and white Upgrades in my opinion are for those not concerned with speed and response or don't know any better. NOTE: The obvious advantage to upgrading does eliminate the need to reinstall all your data/app's saving quite a bit of time and some people will have to take their machines to a computer specialist to complete the process. plus more $$$ spent. to each his own...? NOTE: Microsoft has said you can do an upgrade or clean install using the upgrade win7 upgrade disks. (Google it) but don't ell anyone?
i have an hdx16 too can u tell me what is the advantages of the bios with the slic 2.1 patch cause i dont understand what is that all about thank you
Sorry my statement was based on my laptop DV7-1020US model, which had the new bios for windows 7 but no slic 2.1
To which version? A newer one than on the site (the one on the site is version 31A and has SLIC 2.0)? Has there yet been the new BIOS image extracted from the upgrade DVD?
