I have Compaq 620 and HP Pavilion DV6 3004TU... My query is do i still need to activate this copy if i install this in both these systems? Or this dvd is for those who have recently purchsed HP or Compaq systems with Pre-installed Windows 8 Pro? Please clarify.....
Surprise surprise. I was able to do an upgrade install on my wife's HP TouchSmart 600-1050. This machine was resisting the MSDN and the generic upgrade versions due to problems with the video card and the Nvidia driver cantained in those upgrades. HP had posted that they were not going to do any support for systems built from 2011 and before. We were resigned to living with Windows 7. Until this HP version came along. I just installed it this afternoon over Windows 7 and using the upgrade key that I purchased from Microsoft and it worked. Voila. UPDATE: After installing Windows 8 HP and getting all of the updates from Microsoft, the computer is now prone to locking up. . . tighter than a drum. The only way to get out of the lock state is to turn the power off and then restart. That may be a hardware driver problem.
That's exactly one of the reason we didn't buy any more HP's! Same applies to NEC Products, they having the same policy. Very customer unfriendly. I bought in the last year a WiFi Mouse from HP and got problem with it's signal reception and working range. Also the batteries were down after 2 day's instead of min 6 month! send 3½ month ago back to HP to Warranty Claim and that's all: NO replacement! NO infos about Claim Stage! Call to HP Service Center stops at Operator etc. etc.! I filed already an complaint with the Economic Crime Division of the Thai Police who handle that kind of cases. In Thailand I would suggest: Stay back from HP!

If your system had pro it will auto activate from the key embedded in your system. If you had core, it will install core and the system will not activate with the embedded key (unless you add an ei.cfg and pid.txt to the iso/usb). -ed- unless this is a pure pro (like Pro-VL) then there may be no core in it? I confuse myself sometimes, no worries.
wohoo, I installed this Windows 8 and update all suggest by Windows Update, After update, I must wait Windows configuring. It's ok. After done, I restart my laptop sometime, and dont have any trouble. But today, sometime when I restart my laptop, it's say Configuring.... again,, but dont have any update from Microsoft. WTH ?

Noop. You can enable SLIC 2.1 for Windows 7 activation but you can't put new MSDM table with unique key in BIOS.
