I am preparing for the A+ but I don't have much money since I have focused on testing and haven't worked in a few months. Does anyone have a link to a free download? I am new to IT and could really use some real world simulations to help me prep for the test and the field. I have only done a few contract site deployment jobs and that has not prepared me for a Desktop Support position. Thank you.

You can offer to fix machines for your neighbors (I call it bartering for substinence). Also, volunteer yourself at the local senior center. That'll give you the grand tour of problem clients.

I have made many friends that way. Also, I have learned a lot that way.

If you're close to a public library, you can read and ultimately check out the books you need.

    For free. :)

Then there's these. Found on google.

Simply, the OP needs to start learning by start reading about the Basics regarding various computers sites/fields/specs etc., etc.!

As always, Google is your very close friend in getting all information's you'll need! And those info's are all free of charge!

A forum can help in many ways, no doubt with that! Just, using simply reading, and also posting on forums, will not give you the required basics, wich could be earned by 'learning', start at point ZERO, only!
