i cant get ThinkPad T42 (2374-JU4) get internet

i assume i can also backup the drivers if i didnt had deleted them installing a new os? correct?
if there such a tool, which you recommend?--- the one that you recommend previously?

 

lets say before installing a new os, i could had backup the drivers correct? using XXXX software

then i could had installed the new OS---- and then recovering then from the backup i had performed


but this would only worked if the previous OS was the same as the newly installed OS or compatible with the old OS.

example:

XP pro (old)---> XP pro (new)

or

XP home (old)-----> XP pro(new)


Would this still work if the previous XP was XP pro sp2 and the new OS is XP pro SP3?
