so I copy the certif file found under the dell folder (DELL-DELL-2.0) to c: (root of c ---------------- I open with admin priv the cmd I get C:\Windows\ system32> here I type slmgr.vbs -ilc DELL-DELL-2.0 where ultimately the cmd displays C:\Windows\system32>slmgr.vbs -ilc DELL-DELL-2.0 and then I hit ENTER but I get the following message Windows Script Host Run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xBBA' to display the error text. Error: 0xBBA
As I said above you must right click on cmd Icon and choose Admin privlages also the cmd is slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\DELL-DELL-2.0.XRM-MS I forgot the C:\ part of the cmd my mistake this should work
so I disable UAC and restart the comp ----------- now when I open the cmd i get C:\User\Owner> keep in mind that the certif file is found on root of C: DELL-DELL-2.0 ---------------- I open with admin priv the cmd I get C:\User\Owner> here I type slmgr.vbs -ilc DELL-DELL-2.0 where ultimately the cmd displays C:\Users\owner>slmgr.vbs -ilc DELL-DELL-2.0 and then I hit ENTER but I get the following message Windows Script Host Run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xBBA' to display the error text. Error: 0xBBA
-------------- just in case to run cmd as admin correct I right click on the command promp Icon and then click on Run as administrator. correct? What the actual cmd line should look like before I hit ENTER?
1- right click on the command promp Icon and I click run as Admin 2- cmd open 3 cmd displays the following C:\Windows\sytem32> I type C:\Windows\system32>slmgr.vbs ilc C:\DELL-DELL-2.0XRM-MS AND HIT enter i get a message windows script host Run 'slui.exe 0X2a 0xBBa' to display the error text. Error: 0xBBA
you only type slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\DELL-DELL-2.0.XRM-MS nothing else and there is a space between vbs and -ilc and also space between -ilc and C you left off - on ilc and forgot . between 2.0 and XRM the command must be exactly as is in red
so,,,,,,,,,,,, on cmd I type slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\DELL-DELL-2.0.XRM-MS so that cmd looks like this before hitting enter C:\Windows\system32>slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\DELL-DELL-2.0XRM-MS I hit enter and I get the same error message just to check on slmgr.vbs the l is L correct?
so just to recap I use try this run this cmd slmgr -upk this will remove key. type exit then hit enter and I restart the comp i get a message about typing a key then I hit cancel i get to the desktop with a black background ----------- then I type slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\DELL-DELL-2.0.XRM-MS and wait for the confirmation prompt now on the last step I get the error message when I type slmgr.vbs -ipk 2QBP3-289MF-936X-37XGX-24W6P
