Hey everyone, I'm sorry if this one is an already answered question. Have been searching for a while though in this forums and haven't found anything. Anyway, how do I change the icon spacing in Windows 8 Consumer Preview? Microsoft removed the advanced options in the customization menu, that's where this option was. I hate how the icons are so tight together in explorer, they look messy with words cut weirdly. Long story short, I want to increase the icon spacing to prevent this. Thanks for any help. Cheers
I think I found a place in the REGISTRY to do what you want. Look in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics and I changed the "BorderWidth"="-15" to "BorderWidth"="-1" and that put my ICONS side by side AFTER I REBOOTED. There are many other things you can play with to see what happens. BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST before changing anything. Some are: "SmCaptionWidth"="-330" "BorderWidth"="-1" "SmCaptionHeight"="-330" "CaptionWidth"="-330" "IconTitleWrap"="1" "ScrollHeight"="-255" "CaptionHeight"="-330" "CaptionFont"=hex:... "ScrollWidth"="-255" "MenuWidth"="-285" "SmCaptionFont"=hex:... "MenuFont"=hex:... "StatusFont"=hex:... "MenuHeight"="-285" "MessageFont"=hex:... "IconFont"=hex:... "Shell Icon Size"="32" "PaddedBorderWidth"="-60" "AppliedDPI"=dword:00000060 "IconSpacing"="-800" "IconVerticalSpacing"="-1125" "MinAnimate"="0" Good Luck with your Endeavor.
