So yesterday, I disassembled my Dell XPS laptop to replace the power jack that was defective. Once I got to that part after removal of the palm rest piece I realized that the part I had gotten was not an exact replicate of the one in place and therefore didn't fit.

What happens next is a result of my lack of experience with working with hardware electronics. I contacted the seller and asked for a refund for sending me a defective part. His response was that I should have identified the exact model type written on the small tag on the power jack cable original before I ordered from his store.

Needless to say, I feel really foolish for not noticing that and writing down the parts. Now, opening the laptop just for this purpose would be really a lot of work and I'm hoping there is a way to identify the tag details of the power jack without the need to go through this.

    Thank you
