Now I think this is interesting, in win7 as long as you have the correct image+key+SLIC, you could change whatever hardware. Maybe in win8, the eufi key+hardware hash is just for initial activation against MS server, once it's done, as long as you have the correct image and the same efi data, it's activated no matter how you swap hardwares ......... hmmmm, possibility for a loader?
OK I fancy myself rather tech-savvy but I find myself kind-of confused by this win8 OEM bios stuff. Can anyone explain exactly what they do that prevents someone from coming along and re-installing windows such that it would automatically activate itself if it's the same version?
So if someone has a laptop with a legit key installed, it should activate if they install the same version? AFAIK the bios just holds the key right?
May read my post #29 about Language. Otherwise: YES, the key from MSDM in BIOS would work with it's designed version, mainly Core.
OK I got one other question. How common are these Core SL versions in OEMs? Is it mainly in certain countries like Asian countries? Does US and GB do SL versions as well?
@NiFu: Possible it's country specific?! A Singapore Laptop with Windows 8 need Internet connection for to get activated, I asked an friend from SG as I talked with him an hour ago, he's in Computer business too. The Acer from my customer, we repaired last week, is still activated and as I called him yesterday, he told that he didn't was on Internet till then.
You was done that for some time already!! Best would be, before complain to others about their mistakes, take a closer look for your own. That's not any offence meaning just to remind you that we're all imperfect humans!
Not shure what you´re trying to prove (repeatedly), except you need to have the last word, as most of the time. OMG...next answer is the proof .
