Hi.. so just a quick question.. i have a bunch of Dell Optiplex 780 boxes here all running E5700 cpu's.. and i was looking to upgrade them to quad core cpu's

and according to the delidded website (sry unable to post links)

the Q45 chipset does not support the 5xxx series xeons, and just wanted to ask before i spend hours researching, is it confirmed there is no known way to get this combo to work?

grateful for any insights which might save me hours of research,

You can use X3353 and X3363 which are both 771 and equivalent to Q9xxx but they're not harpertown. The only difference between Yorkfield-CL and Harpertown is that Harpertown is capable of being run in systems with more than one physical processor, and Yorkfield-CL is meant for systems with one physical processor.
