I just want something that works flawlessly and efficient for 3 years without having to manage it. My phone is different, I run beta oxygenOS but my PC needs to just work.
Why use open source when you can steal Windows? Win10 is actually pretty good once you set it up and nothing will ever beat it in compatibility. I once dug out a 15 year old printer and it found the drivers. I played a Japanese VN from 1996 and it worked. No the core of Windows is good.
What happened to the Windows Defender Security Center Service? I used to always disable it anyway but I was just wondering why it's not there anymore @Enthousiast
Thanks for this. Yesterday I updated to 1809 and then immediately applied the CU. I usually never had issues with windows updates, but this appears very flaky to me. (Although the Documents folder didn't get deleted). This just the few things I noticed after an hour or so (not sure whether related to the update or not): - I booted into Safe mode (for cleaning my Nvidia drivers with DDU), mouse in safe mode didn't work. (Never happened to me before). - Then I was just browsing on the net, and my clock for absolutely unknown reasons set itself twice to the wrong time. (This is also never happened to me, not during normal work on the PC). - There is also an issue with a warning coming up in event viewer " Profile notification of event Unload for component {B31118B2-1F49-48E5-B6F5-BC21CAEC56FB} failed, error code is See Tracelogging for error details." which required me to take ownership of two registry keys and delete the registry keys to get rid of the warning. (Which is the solution I found on the web). This update seems not as much tested like previous updates.
IMHO 17763.1 can't be the final release since there a files deletion potential risk. The CU appears to correct this, but applying the CU after migration is too late. MS has a problem as 1809 delivery is a fiasco, like 1803. Bis repetita placent...
