Software distribution (WU) and running MSUs will produce history entries. Servicing images with DISM (Add-Package) will not. That question actually comes up a lot in the WOU forums.
Answering my own question - WU after a clean install will only get you to 17763.55. To get to 17763.104 you have to download and apply the KB4464455 update manually. I used this command in PowerShell (admin): DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\users\<username>\Downloads\Windows10.0-KB4464455-x64.cab
Hi guys , can anyone tell whats these build numbers are ? 17763.1 what does it mean? why it is 17763 why not 18873 and how the digits after decimal place veries after every CU ? how can we figure out major/minor upgrade from these numbers ....etc thanks.
someone correct me if I'm wrong. but the build numbers represent a particular compilation of the windows NT code. MS compiles a new build of windows everyday with a new build number and so this allow us/them to keep track of each particular build they produce. deltas (the .xxx after bthe build number) represent the update version and is similiar in that it allows us to keep track of each update that is made. build numbers increment and so you can always tell which build is newer than the another even if the version numbers are both the same.
because it was the seventeenth thousand, seven hundred sixty-third compilation of windows and that particular compilation was the one they decided to release as the final build of 1809
Thank you Cuteee for the mirroring , I wasn't sure about this KB4466596 dynamic updates (which setups and drivers it took care of in this particular KB) . My knowledge is it selects the appropriate drivers for the particular computer. I am interested and curious (for my pleasure) to see how Microsoft will solve the problem of "Flash" appearing in maximizing windows explorer. is it by rewriting explorer.exe or modifying The Graphics Device Interface (GDI). or else. So I follow the contents of the updates applied
no you are not getting my point ... i mean where does these numbers 17763 <------ came from ? what is there significance? 17763.55 to .104 why not 101 or 102 ?
What can I say is that : 17763 ending with 3. Also previous builds : RS1 : 14393 RS2 : 15063 RS3 : RS4 : 17134 (It was before 17133) Why 104 and not 101 or 102 ? because probably MS did updates internal (This is what I'm thinking).
EDGE CRASHES after performing multiple times copy ( CTRL + C ) in address bar. I can't also copy OR paste ANYWHERE in edge ( inc address bar ) or in ANY site I surf using edge. I've done: sfc /scannow ( no errors found ) ran ''cmd /c"echo off|clip" multiple times -> then copy something out-of-edge -> then try to paste it -> nothing. tried to copy something from edge -> nothing. turned OFF "show search and site suggestions." - did NOT helped. Did 'RAPAIR' and 'RESET' by going into 'settings->apps->edge 'advanced options' -> done BOTH 'RAPAIR' and 'RESET'. when I perform CTRL+C ~2 fast times TO COPY A TEXT FROM THE ADDRESS BAR -> EDGE CRASHES ! the crash part is NEW TO 1809... I had that copy&paste issue in prior version ( 1803,1709 etc... ) - but THIS TIME, on 1809, can't solve the crash issue nor the copy&paste issue. P.S i'm on 17763.104
