The issue is called Windows 10. Because Windows 10 compatible hardware is not compatible forever. Every upgrade = a different 10, even MS states that it abandons support for some devices. Manufacturers should sell hardware, like 1803 compatible. To put it simply, Windows 10 is a mess, MS does not know, what it wants and changes rules during every upgrade, it is hard to keep up. And MS "helps" it by forcing incompatible devices to eventually upgrade to the latest version, regardless of issues. You can keep using any Windows on your hardware for 20 years, but not 10.
I've seen 1809 running on at least a dozen machines, and not one of them have any issues with it. It runs smooth, stable and at least as fast as previous releases on all of them.
it seems every time they fix something they break another, I wonder if anybody at Microsoft got fired over the windows 10 mistakes and errors in programming or testing before release ! somebody has to clean the swamp at MS and get back to releasing windows without so many errors, a few is understandable but having to pull a major release only hours later!
1809 still has some bugs like NetBIOS LAN names returning .local at the end, and brightness issues on some notebooks.
Why would you want to buy windows at the microsoft store, in holland 10 Pro costs 259 euro (Home costs 145euro and profws 435euro) People on sites like MDL should know how to compress the install.wim to install.esd and have a 33% smaller iso.
That wasn't my point at all. I was trying to show that Microsoft has switched from DVD to USB Flash Drive with Windows 10.
I would like to know how it's formatted and setup, probably lika a MCT multi-arch iso is? With 2 separate x86 and x64 install.esd? That would at least fit 8GB USB and will be UEFI and Legacy BIOS bootable (when formatted FAT32), plus able to upgrade.
Well whatever, there is a valid reason why MS has withdrawn the build and still not released again. It simply still is not ready to be released. If you go and read the various Feedbacks, new (not really) bugs are coming out every other day. It might work good on your box because maybe you're not using all the features and therefore don't get aware of the more serious bugs. I also have it on some of my Laptops and it seems running quite well, but digging deeper into it, there are still too many flaws to make it ready for production.
There is a guy on IRC who makes it a point to remind everyone every time he comes in, that the Windows 10 USB he got when Win10 released in 2015 is read-only and he can't update it.
