One minor problem with this updated ISO is its size. The Nov 2018 ISO is 4.72 GB whereas MCT gives 3.78 GB and original Iso was around 4.4GB. That by itself is not a problem but if I create a boot USB, rufus creates NTFS for 4.72 but FAT32 for smaller ISOs. I prefer FAT32 but any ideas?? As it is, there is no point in doing a clean install again. Just apply the latest update to original ISO.
Windows 10, version 1809 Re-Released On November 13, 2018, we will begin the re-release of the Windows 10 October Update (version 1809), Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server, version 1809. We encourage you to wait until the feature update is offered to your device automatically.
Rufus can make NTFS to boot from UEFI, (may need to disable uefi secure boot) No need to split install.wim to be able to work with fat32 on uefi. also no point in doing clean install again, just update to latest cu.
That is what I did for future installs. My requirement is only for win 10 pro x64 and MCT does that. NFTS boot disks can have problems but if there is a solution, I would love to hear. Disabling uefi secure boot is an option if nothing else is available. But MCT and Oct 2018 iso can be made into FAT32 so hardly an issue.
Is the brightness issue fixed on laptops. I find that an issue on laptops where there are 2 GPUs. On desktop, there is only 1 Nvidia GPU for me and so that problem is not there. I think it might be an issue with Intel graphics. But this problem was not there till 1803 and is also not there on 19H1 (v18272). I have tried all possible solutions and though they seem to solve the problem sometimes when restart. However, when I close the laptop lid (turn off display) and reopen it later, brightness is dimmed to 50% most of the time on 1809 (till 17763.107).
No, it has not been fixed yet. https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-17763-1-107-pc-r.77945/page-168#post-1481414
thanks. So not fixed on 1809 as it was by default on 1803 or 19H1. Maybe new Intel Graphics or NVIDIA 416.84 could help??? No fixes floating on the net are 100% working especially on closing/reopening laptop lid. I do close the lid (with turn off display instead of do nothing or sleep or shutdown) when I am not using laptop for more than 10-15 mins.
For all those people with 4GB USB sticks: maybe you should consider getting an 8GB stick... or two... or three, or whatever. We're long past the days when installation ISOs for Windows or macOS are going to fit on a single DVD if you burn them which means (because it's even smaller) a 4GB USB stick just isn't going to cut it anymore. I don't even own any 4GB sticks personally, I had a few 2GB sticks that I use for Linux distros (and soon those won't fit on them either) but the rest of what I have are 8GB and 16GB in size. But I mean really, you can buy brand new 8GB USB sticks for like < $10 these days, 16GB for maybe $10-12. I picked up a bunch of 16GB USB 3.0 capable sticks from Best Buy recently (since I'm in the US, obviously this doesn't necessarily apply in other countries for pricing) for $9 each so I'm good to go. Definitely get some 8GB or larger sticks, there's zero reason to keep using 4GB sticks anymore unless you are literally broke without a penny or pound or shilling or lira or yen or peso or whatever your currency happens to be.
I have not used 4GB sticks in a long time simply because they are not available and higher capacities are cheaper. Even if I use 8/16/32GB sticks, the limitation is in FAT32. I prefer FAT32 because of its ease of use. Using higher cap. USBs is not a problem. Here in India, 16GB costs $6 or roundabouts and 32GB for 8-10$.
I think that this new ISO it's just a updated ISO with all the bugs fixed since the original RS5 released.
