I'm using a VAIO laptop with an old AMD Radeon 5000 series. It's intermittent, sometimes it will do it and sometimes not. Annoying as heck.
uhm, that seems to be a different issue, but is related with brightness too, are you using the last AMD drivers (from AMD website) right ?
Yep, the last driver they made for it. A Crimson beta driver but I've tried the last Catalyst driver too.
Everything is updated including BIOS (from HP), drivers. My conclusion is that the problem is with Windows.
You're forgetting that it is also just 3.21GB(x64) / 2.35GB(x86) for the esd download via MCT. And MCT will auto-retry forever - there was a guy with limited bandwidth that downloaded 1803 in more than 3 days. Most other downloaders will break in that scenario. MediaCreationTool.bat wrapper will also prevent common annoyances when upgrading caused by download updates before install / resizing recovery partition / overwriting third-party drivers / oobe setup breaking login.
Hardly a problem in my case with the internet bandwidth (2 connections of 100 mbps each) in Delhi though it can vary in other places. No GB usage limits per day/month. I downloaded 3.8GB 1809 x64 iso twice yesterday and both times success in 11-13 mins. In fact, MCT has always been reliable for me except when there is a power outage. I have 3 systems at home (1 desktop and 2 laptops) so ISO/boot USB works better. Anyway for 1809 brightness issue on laptop, I may either remain on 1803 or try 19H1 on laptop.
I have Intel HD 630(25.20.100.6373) with Nvidia 1060(25.21.14.1694) and still have this issue(Bios Date: 2018/10/12) It's clearly Microsoft's fault.
1, Try turn on Night light, restart, turn off night light, Problem solve 2. ajust bightness using windows mobility center
MCT iso is not serviceable, to be able to service the iso you first need to convert the install.esd to wim, takes a long time. For simple use the MCT is ok, for people who service the iso it's easier to download the TB/MVS iso's with wim, or do it manually by downloading the ESD and convert to iso with wim by using ESD>ISO by @abbodi1406
Agree with you, but for windows 10 pro on all of my computers, MCT works. For enterprise iso , I have used ESD. I have also used ESD when MCT was not live and I needed to install. For me personally, ESD=ISO=TECHBENCH=MCT=???, especially if ESD etc is from MDL. I have been here for close to 9 years, learnt a lot, but more than anything else, trusted MDL. Have been less active here recently because of other preoccupations, etc.
