You don't need third-party tools to do what you want to do. Just split the WIM file into two or more SWM files that are smaller than 4 GBs and that's it. Then just format the USB drive to FAT32 and copy the installation files to it. I have USB installation media with WIM files that are over 11 GBs, but split into 4 or 5 SWM files and they work like a charm. EDIT (this is an example on how to split a wim file): Dism /Split-Image /ImageFile:C:\install.wim /SWMFile:C:\install.swm /FileSize:3500
Ahhh, that's an interesting idea. Its been annoying me that I need to do the extra ESD step when I build an OS and include all the updates and drivers. I will try this out this week.
I know all about splitting, I am looking to eliminate steps. I use WIM -> ESD now to fit under the 4GB cap, I am looking to eliminate the cap.
They went to all that trouble to redesign the PC BIOS with UEFI, but then they put it on a fat32 file system. I think someone was out to lunch that day at the design table. In any case splitting the image is easy enough.
He means like simply search for the release date rather than posting offtopic posts in this thread. See my edited reply above *click the link*
Kid? Triggered already? Do you really know about my age? NO. I don't know your age either but that can be easily presumable by seeing your (earlier) display picture & all of the fuss that you are spreading around here. Moreover, a pseudo like you, who've become a joker here, is triggered & trying to make fun of others, what an irony. & again, you called yourself a Professor so proudly? If you have minimum self-respect, you should've stopped commenting all this way before becoming a 'topic' here. And there you are, referring others as 'kid' without knowing the actual age, & with all of your usual bulls**ts. You're a real parasite here.
go have fresh air pl I am too busy with fresh installation of windows dual boot , not forgetting to mention MAK activated
What I mean, is that, everyone knows (especially people here at MDL) that MS doesn't actually say anything about release date as there is none, they release all the builds when they're ready, or at least when MS think that they're ready to release, the release date concept along with RTM build concept been abandoned by MS years ago with the prior development of Win10, & being said that, Release date & RTM used to be a thing in the earlier iteration of MS OS development, prior to the Win10 when they release a new OS 2/3 years after releasing the current OS. So if anyone is interested to keep a track record, he can either search the WEB by Google or any other prefered search engine that contains many links of articles (both usufull & trashs). Moreover, Google also list this MDL's url in the SERP so anyone can read literaly everything so far published openly about the development progress of Win10 (any branch), there is nothing to ask that Q except diverting the topic from his stupidity.
