1809 broke my sound driver too. I can't even get the latest drivers to work anymore I had to install an old driver for the time being.
I don't here to many people say they made full system backups before upgrading or updating ! I updated my puter to1809 then had it erase all the old files and clean the system drive . now my computer has parts 2-6 years old so its not new! an old amd cranked up and water cooled and I guess im one of the lucky ones , never lost a thing and all runs well games ,photo programs ,cad programs, so I guess are most computers are ok with the upgrade but a few are having major problems. remember to turn off all virus and malware checking programs before doing an update at times they do cause problems !

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for your work in maintaining and updating threads and such. I've been a bit out of the loop since I decided to stop doing my updated windows versions, but I have lurked a bit from time to time. I appreciate it all, esp Enthousiast.
Store is borked currently when signed in using MS account and trying to purchase Forza 4 or any other game. It works for free apps like iTunes, Netflix, etc. Error Code: 0x00000194

Seams if you do not update the driver for the high defenition audio, you cannot here Cortana/Narrator. For example, you won't here Cortana at OOBE if you clean install this build. Or, you cannot here Narrator if you press Control+Windows+Enter when booting via USB to clean install. Again this only applies to the inbox HD audio driver. If, for example, I install the Realtek driver I do not have this problem.
1803 required no sound driver on my system to get sound. 1809 requires it to give sound or at least in video I can sometimes hear the background sound but not the dialogue. There is also intermittent freezing and what to say about the poor white/grey balance. Fonts still look torn if resolution is set to 125% on QHD or higher screen sizes. Guess improvement in that direction is not even a thought. I thought after the taskbar icons freezing/disappearing in 1703, 1709 and 1803 worked well. But it is like 2 good ones and 1 bad one. Most of the changes advertised are of dubious utility, not frequently used. In 3 years, the overall first glance still looks the same.

Does anyone notice that microsoft force their app an the registry key patch is not working anymore, i'm talking about windows photo viewer in 1803 i can use, now all picture format always opened by "photos" app. Same for mp3 file. Is this just a bug or does it have a solutions?
