a full backup before updates or upgrades solves most problems, I also make copies of my photo and other data to another drive . its a habit I got into when I got tired of loosing things when Microsoft kept upgrading there programs and screwing things up , and this time when I updated to the 1809 release all went well never lost or broke a thing so I never had to use the back up I wonder why "lucky" or is it that my old AMD computer "6 years old" just didn't have the problems the newer systems have.
Microsoft has blocked the distribution of Windows 10 October 2018 Update after the signals from the users regarding inexplicable deletion of their documents following the update, Some Windows Insiders have reported this issue as early as 3 months ago
Great, I have made backups of LTSC 2019 on my backup disks and even burned the ISO to a DVD a couple of days ago so I can clean install later on. Now it looks like all have been in vein and there might be a new build and I have to start all over again, seriously WTF? I don't have the time or patience for this kind of free form f****ery, no way in hell I'm going to wait any longer for this s*** Either it is 17763.1 LTSC 2019 with a cumulative fix or else I'm gonna permanently stay on Enterprise 1803.
It's of course true regarding CU, but we also have "dynamic updates" which are applied during setup. And one more theory - it could be also caused by a bug in 1803..
I just realized this morning that my fiancée has lost all of her user files after upgrading to 1809 via Windows Update two days ago, many important work files and photos are now gone forever, and I'm not aware of any way to undo this damage. **** you Microsoft and your Insider bull**** Program.
Automatic, via Windows Update, she just checked for updates and the upgrade started. WannaCry at least wasn't deleting user's data.
Anyone here have a VLSC Account and can get me the German (DE) Version of: SW_DVD9_Win_Server_STD_CORE_2019_64Bit_English_DC_STD_MLF_X21-91656.ISO I can find only the English VL Image, but im looking for the "Original" German Volume License Image. Maybe someone can upload it ? Thanks in advance.
Thanks, I'll give them a shot this evening, I just hate being in such situations, especially when it affects you personally. Will report back when I get something useful.
Are you using the full Enterprise or LTSB? Just wondering if the full Enterprise Edition avoids all this crap also.
She must of missed the warning about this & to be sure to back-up their data before updating to v1809. I read (ZDNet) w/ the warning that the restore old OS doesn't restore the data files w/ this glitch.
