I did download the files, extracted to USB drive...but found out I didn't have it setup as bootable. At the moment I wasn't thinking and tried running in win DOS...but ended up setting up a bootable USB drive and set up in pure DOS and rebooted. My system currently was Win 7 64 bit Enterprise, but will replace with 64 bit Pro or Ultimate. I don't believe the certs was with the Rapidshare download...
@Urie, OK....I finally have my system setup and running properly, but I didn't achieve what I really set out to do. I was hoping to unlock more options in the modded Dell Inspiron 530 BIOS, v. 1.0.18, but it seems to be about the same (other than 7 activate). I have no extras to adjust, such as overclocking and such. I was hoping to be able to get my SATA connections to have more tweaking possibilities..... If anybody else has any options to make this happen, please don't hesitate to make yourself known
so no other extras to be similar to the G33M mobo supported by FoxConn? I would love to see options like overclocking and SATA enhancements.....
would anyone have the modded bios 1.0.16 for raid 0 on vostro 400? thelostbrain.com is down and im out of options on what to do. I have the 1.0.15 modded BIOS, however im already on 1.0.15 and my computer wont allow me to install the modded version because it is the same version. Please Help
sorry i dont understand. When i editted the .bat file for winflash.bat to bios.bin and run it, it says its not for my system. Im not sure what to do.
I Just checked on Dell site for vostro 400 bios last version is 1.0.15 so the bios I sent is not for vostro try flashing your 1.0.15 modded BIOS from pure dos not from within windows.
In urie post#6 and yalehaus3 post#9 "Supported Memory Types DDR2-667 SDRAM, DDR2-800 SDRAM, DDR3-800 SDRAM, DDR3-1066 SDRAM, DDR3-1333 SDRAM Maximum Memory Amount 8 GB" I get the same using Everest (now called AIDA64) - but bit confused as all documentation only says DDR2 - is the above info correct in that DDR3-1333 SDRAM can be used?
Thanks Tito. That's gone back to tell me I can only have 4gb max (1gbx4), more confused than before I used the crucial scanner
Welcome buddy!! I never saw any fault in Crucial's test; well in post #6 urie mentioned that Inspiron 530 supports 4 GB max
Thanks again Tito. I've always assumed I've got the standard "Dell 530 only" and it would be 4gb max but when I ran the Everest / AIDA64 util it did say max 8GB ram so gave me a bit of hope that I could upgrade to 8gb ram. but not so sure now, I don't think I'll bothered with the risk unless someone can say it can take 8gb ram (maybe DDR3 too). Still not quite sure what revision of the motherboard my Dell 530 is.
I used CPUID CPU-Z and that tells you the motherboard revision (0Ry007), i.e. 4gb max only. Also what Everest / AIDA64 reports is compatibility with that chip-set doesn't necessarily mean that you can use for example DDR3 ram - doing some research found that DDR3 won't even fit in DDR2 slots. So no goer for me in the end, sounds like better off with a new PC.
Just to kill the last bit hope I had left I opened up Dell 530 and has look inside and it is the G33M02. 0RY007 motherboard with the Floppy Drive Connector. So that would make it the 530 only model.
I have the dell inspiron 530 with the G33M02. 0RY007 motherboard. I have 8gb installed for memory, it is recognized in the Bios and with windows.
