I have also 3 different Asus laptops, each with latest BIOS. Old "Windows Server 2012" working perfectly, but new Windows Server 2012 "R2" crashes while installing on all 3 laptops with described error in first post (both as upgrade from Windows 8 and new install from boot dvd). I'd say Microsoft should very quickly release an updated ISO.

the all of you will get an online update for your installations during setup. You only need to click YES for driver update when you receive the message using this feature after oct 18. Some drivers are not included yet for the process. They don't let you die out in the dessert, be sure :D

edit: don't let you tell stories about a new RTM. RTM is Gold-finished since weeks now. Microsoft will update all installations with updates after GA with nescessary files. There will be NO new RTM after GA because this cannot be handled and is not nescessary. End of message :D

Same stuff here . I have this PC (Q8300,4GB DDR2,9800GT,2 sata hdd,1dvdwriter 16x Asus,Intel Mobo) , and i have Windows 8 Pro x64 installed. So i try to install the RTM image of Win 8.1 , i boot the cd , windows blue logo appears and after 30 seconds i receive this error Your computer needs to restart. Please hold down the power button. Error Code: 0x000000C4 . Repeat , Windows 7 or Windows 8 dvds boot very well ,no prob , the single problem is with 8.1.

I try to a more old pc , a E4300,2gb ram and a 8400gs with ecs mobo , and there same image of win 8.1 rtm work and boot with no error.

i think is something from my bios, a bug or something , because Q8300 have all requiremnts that 8.1 said , memory test no errors , hdd no bad . the bios version is old , but i i`m afraid to make a update on bios , i have a Intel DG31PR Mobo with bios version from 2009 , and after that on intel sites ,appear 3 new versions of bios.

A computer with those specs should only run 32-bit version.

    ?

what ? Q8300 or E4300? , on first system i have Windows 8 Pro x64 from 9 months and work like a charm , more more better than vista and 7. even the E4300 is a 64bit processor, i dont know why you think that pc cant run win8 , probably with a 4 gig ram run good.

the saying is that you should not touch a running system but in this case, it is better to get the latest bios for your board in order to run the new software

but is not a risc to "kick my mobo ass" if bios update dont work? I see Intel have that Intel Integrator that make your bios update from that program under the windows , it detect latest bios version for your mobo and if you want auto update from there. i dont know what decision to take. to update or not to update ,like in shakespeare:)))

i`m back after 2 days . So , i made a bios update to my Intel MOBO with Intel Integrator , and after that , Windows 8.1 boot and work like a charm. So the problem was old version of bios. There is 2 years and a half between the old bios and the new bios update. Only a minute was my bios update , no problem in that time , very fast ,boot and no other problems.

I have tried installation of "WS2012R2" again yesterday/today, this time with online updates as you said. I only disconnected LAN when I had to enter the product key, after the update downloads were complete (there is no reason to burn the product key's activations for nothing on 4 laptops just for testing installation).

Result: Same error at installation as before --> BSOD! On 4 different laptops (WS2012R1 running perfectly well). Again a big waste of time.

@PaulDesmond: You should be more careful what you say.

I hope Microsoft will release new WS2012R2 ISOs soon.

I'm always careful what I say. Do you see anything wrong? If you mean that some isos get updated by including 3 updates which also can be instilled after original setup, nothing really has changed the RTM version, did it?
Simply for the sake of convenience in deployment they included the updates in order to make it run smoothly on the enterprise sides
