Installed Windows 7: Won't Detect Wireless Network Adaptor, Won't Detect sound card

    how do I run that atheros driver? There is no .exe file?

    I hate to say it but the file isn't on the site, this is the error message I got:
    Not Found

    The requested URL /drivers/auto/acer/notebook/aspire_4220/vista/Drivers/Wireless LAN Atheros Wireless Lan Driver v7.2.0.208.zip was not found on this server.

    i tried it an it faild will look for another one. is there anymore information that you can give me about the card. look it up on everst and give me everything it says on it

    still won't switch on, but atheros wireless network dapter is in the device manager under network adapters now.

    and it's enabled, and it's bus device and function match that of the hardware in everest. Still won't switch on though.

    when I go into BIOS, WLAN still isn't there under devices.

    hmm well its bedtime for me man. i will talk to my friend and see if he can help. i would restart and try to make sure its switched on. it maybe just be recongnizing the ethernet bus and not the wireless part. i would try installin a few of the ones you already tried. now that it is in device manager. i will come one tomorrow and help.

    ok thanks. MY only concern is that maye it's just the driver that's installed and that it hasn't detected the device at all? IDK. I can't switch it on btw.

    you are not going to believe this but...

    I went into device manager, clicked on the athertos that was now showing up under the network adapter and got it to search my driver cd for updates, and the .sys and .inf files worked!!!!!!!!!!!!

    In my heart of hearts I didn't think it would ever work.

    Thanks very much. I'm going to try and do the same thing with my video card now, even thoug ATI's catalyst replacement driver didn't work for my video card it did show up under graphics adapters.

    will update, although I think the card might actually be incompatible.

    Typing this from the laptop, it worked!!!!!!!!!!!


    Video card and wireless both installed and working fine!!!!!!!

    I'd resigned myself to buying a new computer today so thankyou so much!!!
