Old Insyde BIOS recovery I own an old laptop, Movita Fuego Model 200, type 225. It's a PIII 1GHz, ChipSet SIS630, year 2002. I did a wrong reflash of the BIOS (my fault, I used a wrong type 205!!). Don't ask me why... Now the laptop is "dead". I don't know if there is some kind of boot-block recovery mode for this kind of BIOS. I tried the usual methods, like parallel dongle (useful for Phoenix), or special keys at the power up (without any success). No boot attempts from the floppy. Despite that, and knowing that the right BIOS seems to be not available throught the standard channels, I'm ready to do the following steps: 1) I need to find a working bios. If I discover a system like this one, how can I read the old BIOS, knowing that the provided utility doesn't have a "Backup" feature? Which software is good to read that useful 256 KB of EEPROM? 2) Is there any way to program the BIOS on the board without removing the PLCC32 29F020 EEPROM chip? If there isn't a recovery procedure for this old BIOS, I was thinking to something like JTAG or other hardware ways to bypass the problem of the IC without socket... direclty mounted on the PCB. Eventually if every other way is not useful I will remove to IC, reprogram and after I'll remount (I know how to do this, but... I would prefer to avoid this part). If someone has good suggestions to make my job easier, I'm here to ask hints. Thank you in advance. Mirko.
