Hey guys. I have a HP DV5-1235DX Notebook Computer and I found the required certificate and modded SLIC 2.1 files from a previous request (modded by busykid508). The question I have is what certificate to install/import - the HPQOEM or the HP 2.1? Furthermore, how do I import it (using the slmgr command or Windows 7 loader)? Thanks for all your time and effort! I truly appreciate it! P.S.: Will my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 ever ask me for activation once I mod my bios and install the HP certificate (despite the fact that Microsoft might block the SLP key)?
OK after extensive searching for my Vaio, I finally figured out how to do it. But now I can't get into the BIOS because it's asking me for a password. What would this password be or is there a default that I don't know about. Thanks in advance!
There are many backdoor passwords for BIOS access if the user has lost or misplaced their password. Google your VAIO's BIOS followed by backdoor passwords. I'm pretty sure that VAIO's have PHOENIX bioses, but they may vary across other models. Another alternative is to remove the CMOS battery from your motherboard for at least ten minutes and then reboot. Good luck!
Yah my luck is already run out and its only the second day of the year. I tried looking for a backdoor but to no avail. I guess Insyde bioses are locked hard with the password. Also took the laptop apart to get to the cmos battery and disconnecting for 10 minutes didn't work. (A VAIO Z is a pain in the...uhm, neck!). I have also tried and tried different CMOS cleaner progs, and nothing there either. But thanks anyways, I guess I will have to try and see if redoing the BIOS again works with another one. Update: Tried to flash with different bios to no avail. I guess I am screwed.
I have looked at your bios and it is INTEL and cannot be modified...the only way to mod an INTEL is if it contained an AMI BIOS string and your bios does not fit that and does not contain the AMI Bios String...sorry.
I used the phoenix tool on the bios file and it says it mod'ed the file successfully. If I reload the file into the tool it says it has the Dell SLIC in there. When you say it won't work, do you mean I will not be able to flash the file? or did you mean I would not be able to mod the file? It looks to me I was able to mod it, but it looks from some reading I've been doing I might have to flash it in the bios recovery mode.
